AC Ryan updates besteller UDrive IDE+SATA2 ver 2009
Background
UDrive originally was first released by AC Ryan in early 2006, when Naked Drives (using bare drives externally without casings) was still frowned upon. Every lazy techie must have ever opened up a casing and dangled a bare drive hanging by its molex power and the data cable, just to try out a drive. And then sometimes it just stays there for days, weeks, months. So when AC Ryan first launched itself into USB HDD solutions in 2005/2006, UDrive seemed natural to us. At that time we had made it for lazy techies tool (incl. many of us here), we did not quite forsee the popularity that it would gain, turn out to be a bestseller and go on to become The Ultimate Drive Tool for all Naked Drives.
A flaw sits in the original physical design... without thinking it would become a drive tool for all drives, we had not thought of 5.25 inch optical drives. When you connect an IDE 5.25 inch drive, the power connector of the 5.25 inch optical drive is blocked. Luckily the IDE 5.25 inch optical drive is seldom used and despite this flaw, UDrive still succeeded as it has. The funniest part of this is that apparently our design flaw has shown up everywhere in lots of other me2 UDrive-like products from other brands/manufacturers all exhibiting the same flaw, lol.
