Post Re: [Official] Firmware_PV73800_v9.5.5.r3966
Hello ACryan,

Just installed new firmware...

1.In the old HDmini my dvd VIDEO_TS played automatically but in the HDmini2 even with this new firmware i have to select the VIDEO_TS_IFO file even when i checked the play dvd automatically in the setup menu?

2.Is there a way that i can present my samba shares to the root menu of the ACryan and maybe remove the standard names?

3.Can i remove the "Network Speed" info when i play a file, because for me it is a bit annoying that every time i play a file i get this info?

okay tnx for all the great work so far :-)

Post Re: [Official] Firmware_PV73800_v9.5.5.r3966
So far I'm positively impressed with this new firmware:

- the zoom problem seems solved (see: viewtopic.php?f=173&t=13432)
- subtitles key closes the menu
- I successfully got my NAS media folder indexed and accessible from Movies in main menu (see viewtopic.php?p=99530#p99530)

Thanks again. :P

Hi guys,

thanks for the feedback so far. For your information:

1. Some people are having issues with subtitles. From r3966 on the Subtitles will start automatically. It will however not safe the positioning or other settings you've done. This is not a bug but how the software works at this point. Due to the increasing demand of subtitles to start automatically we decided to include this in our latest firmware.

2. To have the opportunity to add network shortcuts to the main menu etc. we would need to do changes in the SDK itself which is not possible by us. We already addressed this issue to Realtek and are waiting for them to come up with a solution for this problem.

3. The Software is of course open source. The Code can be downloaded here:
code: http://www.acryan.com/downloads/GPL/RTD1185_GPL.zip
gpl-statement: http://www.acryan.com/downloads/GPL/gpl.pdf

4. There is an issue when playing back movies via NFS Shares. We currently look into this and will let you know if we have any further informations regarding this issue.

Please also bear in mind that posts like 'player reboots when i was watching a photo' do not really help us. If you read the initial post you probably have read about our bugtracker. Please try to post / email us bugs only which you have confirmed for yourself and which are reproducable. Also some additional information would be needed if you post this here like it was stated before. If you have technical questions please use the apropriate forum sections or email our support @ europe@acryan.com

have a good day & best regards,

Can you please post the status of the bugtracker? I'd like to know whether the bugs I reported which haven't been fixed in this release are on there, and it would also stop people having to report things that are already on the list.

Thanks Arne, that's the kind of feedback that we've hoped for but not had so far.

That works well for me but I can imagine you'll still get complaints from those who don't want subtitles. What we need is for the settings to "stick" so that if we select subtitles, they'll always be selected and if we don't, we won't see them. Ditto for audio settings and we do need those positioning and font settings to stick too. I would have thought that would take a half-decent programmer 10 minutes to fix.

Good news. I hope they'll sort it soon and I for one will contact them and push for it to be resolved ASAP. If enough of us do that they might just give it a higher priority.

Again, good news, I assumed it would be proprietary. I'm not a programmer but we have several here on the forum so I'm looking forward to hearing what they think.

hi,

I would like to write just that not everyone is able to make repairs to the procedures provided at all. My father can play a maximum of FW. English can not, so it's a problem.
You should finally make a proper functional firmware. Otherwise people are buying dud.

That's all well and good, but it's only the GPL'd parts of it (which they have to release to comply with the licence). There's a whole heap more kept behind closed doors.

I don't want to come across as contentious, but I'm afraid I don't buy this explanation. I've never seen any other player (DVD, Blu-Ray, streamer, etc etc) which by default forces subtitles to be always enabled, and users on these forums seem to most often ask for the ability to set them off or on, not for them to be forced on. It seems particularly odd since you say the player doesn't retain other sub-title related settings.

Ideally, the option to set them off or on should be reinstated and made to work properly.

I believe ALL users would like to have the subtitle settings (position/size/color) saved, be it default ON or OFF.
How many times should we say this before you realize this is one of the most "basic" features which should be there in any SDK/firmware?
