Post How to use a Fixed IP address within Home Network
After the recent upgrade to Firmware v8.5.3.r3966 - Asian Edition for my ACR-PV76120 Playon!DVRHD,

I am unable to set my Playon DVR to have static IP address within my Home Network. The options to allow fixed IP are not available. It always uses DHCP and defaults to 192.168.1.100 {or} 192.168.1.101

Does anyone know where the options are in the AcRyan settings to set up a fixed IP address and Subnet Mask within my network?

Thank you for any advice provided.

NRdos,

Do you have your Playon connected in a wired network or a wireless network ?
When in wired network, select FIX IP (MANUAL) in network settings, see chapter 3.5 in http://www.acryan.com/downloads/manuals ... Manual.pdf

When in a wireless network, in the manual it seems that you only can use DHCP, so dynamic ip@ .... so setting static ip@ might not be possible.

Note: I do not have same player as you , i have a POHD mini (73200) connected Wireless in my network, but i noticed that in r4824 i could set a static ip@ , while in r2115 is was not possbile anymore and only dynamic (via DHCP) was only possible....

I do not know about the DVR, but after installation of 3966 on my Mini the first question for setup was the language and the second about fixed IP or DHCP for a wired network.

You can assign a semi fixed IP address by allowing an unlimited lease for that IP address on your DHCP server.

You should be able to give the AC Ryan box a static IP address from your router. When the box starts it uses its DHCP client to ask for an IP address. This is normally provided by your home network router. You should be able to configure this to assign a fixed IP to the ACRyan box. Look for a DHCP client list in your router and note the MAC address of the ACRyan. Then configure the router to issue a static IP address of your choice within your network to the ACRyan box.

The manual that is referred to above is no longer valid as the new firmware has a totally different screen setup. It would be nice if they produced a manual for the new firmware which would negate a lot of the questions on the forums.

Yes but that would be customer support, and that's against Playon policy :stepout:

Downgraded to the older firmware v8.0.20.r3420 and that has ability to use fixed IP address for both Wireless and Wired Connections
Also the older firmware allows successful MultiChannel AAC output via HDMI which the new firmware fails to do correctly.

Fixed IP for WIFI doesn't work anymore on the newer SDK firmwares.

As manual you can use the new hd2 manual which explains the basic functions of the new gui which are the same amongst all devices now.

Hd2: http://www.acryan.com/downloads/manuals ... Manual.pdf

there's also a german one if anybody is interested..

cheers,

You can have fixed IP address thru router on DHCP. According MAC address you can make reservation of IP address.
