I'm polluting the forum by mentioning (in this topic about firmware development) that the firmware activity was a lot higher before?
Edit: What question am I asking every day in multiple topics?! You keep saying the same things in multiple topics You want a new firmware We don't communicate Etc etc Keep it in one topic instead of repeating the same things in topics where people post a negative repsonse.

Posting every day the same questions in differen't sections of the forum will not result in a faster release.
We call that pollution of the forum.
There is been told that they still working on the firmware
And that they are close to a release.
So please stop the pollution please.
If you want direct answers from the staff use the support email.
Makes my job easier to keep the forum readable. To keep it simple, you're just saying. Sh*t th* F*ck *p, I have absolutely no idea when a new firmware is coming, and I am sick of answering questions which should be answered by AC.Ryan.... But to be honest, because AC.Ryan is unable to communicate these questions will popup over and over again..... If AC.Ryan needs a good projectleader or projectmanager, I will be happy to assist them...... I'm not saying to keep your mouth shut but to keep it on one place Makes the forum better readable And better to moderate

Sambuccashake wrote: *Junwei = The only developer? If not, how many are there? Actually, as i've understood it Junwei is actually a senior hd product specialist with the asia region hq of ac ryan. He did seem to bear information coming from the developers, but hasn't been all that active on the forum of late. I think its fair to say that they have a few really good in-house coders(and probably hiring!), but it's very limited what they can actually code, a lot of it is closed off and only accessible by Realtek. In other news, the latest fw has dropped and initial response seems mixed. It does seem to work well for a significant proportion of the user base posting at this forum, as little as that indicates it does lead me to believe either not all bugs are apparent to all users, or users are experiencing differences related to other things. One great thing i've read several times is video rendering seems improved, with one user stating he can now stream blurays w/ hd ma over lan. This sounds fabulous, and it makes me wonder, would it be possible to "backport" this improvement along with a couple of others(screen size adjustment, a few others), to an sdk3-based build keeping all of that line's settings and most importantly, defaults. I think in so many ways the latest fws are a huge step backwards, so that even when Realtek throws us a bone in the form of an unexpected upgrade in video rendering performance and abilities, the vast amount of brokenness clearly outweighs this bone, imho. It's been stated many times, by both mods and ac ryan staff, that the focus will be on polishing and fixing existing features, before bringing new ones in. But it's evident Realteks priorities lie elsewhere, i fear few of the sdk4 bugs will be worked out before sdk5. They'd rather throw everything out again in 3-6 months time and start anew, leaving users with that one favorite fw that did almost everything they wanted, and they just stick with it. Apart from an odd audio fix here or there(easily counted on one hand), has Realtek ever really did what their partners asked them to implement? Pretty sad state of affairs, when the very latest branch of development is really only interesting as a production fw to a small subset of end product customers, existing or potential. It's this detachment that's the root of all this evil. Realtek really only care about the chips they make, and they ensure they have their partners by their balls by maintaining control of the renderers inside the chips. Either Realtek decides to let their partners help code their proprietary parts via NDA's, or someone reverses the lot of it and comes out with something complete and at least as stable as some of the better (older) ac ryan fws.

Re: The big, "firmware developing", topic.
Hi I have only recently purchased the HD DVR and I thought from the advertising on the AC RVAN website that this was a working HD TV recorder not a work in progress system. I used 3 or 4 HD recorders over the last 6 or 7 years and I can confirm a £70 HD recorder from Tesco is a more refined and complete system. Programs later in the week can be programmed to record directly from the EPG and a repeating event can be set to record with a press of a button. Really I think that AC RYAN should concentrate on getting the basics of the recorder working smoothly and then add extra features rather than adding a lots of partially operational features. The EPG is a work in progress organising and removing channels is so difficult take a look at some of the budget set top boxes and see how effectively they work.I have used a Tvonics DVR for the last few years and the operating system of this is so straight forward I have never found or required a firmware update for this unit. I will give the AC RYAN a few more days to see if I can master the interface and if a working firmware update is not available I will be selling it on Ebay. I am already researching the latest Tvonics and Philips recorders which receive and record High Definition TV programmes. Sorry AC RYAN but on paper your system does EVERYTHING when in practice it does nothing fully.

Every firmware release has a changelist So if your bug is not in the changelist it's not resolved Some bugs can only be resolved by Realtek (Some parts of the firmware is closed for acryan programmers and can only be accesed by realtek.

Re: The big, "firmware developing", topic.
Wouldn't it be fair to not only list the changes, but also the most important open issues? There once was the idea of using a bug tracker (mind you, this was AC Ryan's idea!) but somehow this was never implemented. With every release lots of people are complaining that specific issues are still present. Being honest about these bugs would at least avoid these discussions.

Re: The big, "firmware developing", topic.
vanhal does have a point - we're back to the lack of information complaints again We would all appreciate a bit more openness from ACR.
