That's not build in yet

Yet?

Does this mean it's going to be and for all units, not just the newer ones?

If so, what's the plan? I know you will not give dates but is it likely to be in the next release or a near future release?

Cheers.

The test team added it as a note that the scan can not be started manual.
It's up to the dev team to see if they can make it manual or not.

I had the POHD since late 2009, and had many times lost files and even whole directories using the POHD copy/move function. After a few FW updates didn't solve the problems, I have NEVER EVER used it again for any file activities.

Since then , I will always connect to my computer to do the File transferring.

Those most at risk are users with Internal Hard Drives installed in the POHD.

Well, we've had Roger reply a few times, and his title says AC Ryan Staff...

For me, I bought one as an easy alternative to my PS3 heat generator.

First problem: the formats the PS3 doesn't play... the AC Ryan also doesn't play!
Second problem: the PS3's a lot more stable, apart from pics. It just reads a few hundred and stops. But hey, that's better than with the AC Ryan, having access to the whole directory, though it hangs or crashes before you get through a few hundred pics...

Recently I bought a new camera to replace my old Sony camera. And it's again a Sony. I've got a PS3 and PSP, Sony TV, Sony Ericsson phone... so the good experience with Sony (apart from some PSN hacking...) made me buy more from them. (And after two LG phones with limited support and possibilities that means I switched to SE).

For some reason I don't think AC Ryan can count on me buying something from them again... even IF they are able to release a good firmware. It's just taken waaaaay to long! And without any explanation!
Even if the new boxes work perfectly... you had your chance and blew it big time! I mean, being a programmer myself, it can't be too difficult to get it working for the most part. But with the amount of hangs, crashes and spontaneous reboots I get, I'm beginning to wonder if the team working on this is actually knowledgable enough!
This current beta is about eye candy. I don't want eye candy! I want a box that plays stuff without much problems! And certainly without hangs and crashes!

LOL, looks like my previous post was deleted with a possible ban warning. My bad for breaching this forum's rules.

Anyway to stay on-topic. When at main menu, when i select say "File Manager" and press enter. Most times i'm not sure if i had press entered or not because the respond is slow. To deal with this frustrating uncertainty i realised that if i did press enter, the main menu screen actually dims a little. The subtitles also do not stay on even if opted to stay in setup. The scanning icon sometimes appear even when set to Not scan. Any fellow user who wants to not have to deal with these frustrations can PM on how i dealt with it.

Hopefully the new firmware that is coming soon will solve most of the problems. I thank acryan for your understanding and patience in dealing with my frustrations.

Finally some people here that are reasonable. The last SDK3 firmware is very stable and does all I want. The GUI 2.0 beta didn't cut it for me so I rolled back. No problem for me to wait until AC-Ryan come up with a stable SDK4 release.

Agreed...

I admit, the release of new firmwares is bad, but I bought this machine to play my music, photos and HD movies and that's what it does perfectly. So I am happy.

Off course would it be nice to have extras like Youtube, Netflix etc but maybe you might want to try a different player.

I have the same opinion. My only doubt is my present FW (v7.3.4 r4624 - an not 4824) - arrived from the factory with it (1073DD C+) - I have no problems with it, but what is the difference compared with 4824? I did not find any info, just something like it is for the Mini?
I was thinking about to try alternative and tempting FWs (curiosity), but as far as it does its job I won't change.

I've stuck with Firmware_PV73100_v7.3.3.r4824_Asian after reading all the comments on the BETA.

It is ok, just ok, nothing special.

I would like to 'skin-it' so I could more easily see which movie I was on, the 'highlight' colour is terrible.
I would also like the systems current date to automatically re-set itself when switched on and Internet is dedected. 01-01-2010 all the time causes problems with YAMJ and Network.

I bought mine in May 2010 and was initially impressed with the speed of AC Ryan's FW releases, now it all seems to have fizzled out.

Shame really before they know it they will have lost customers to newer makes / models of Media Playes's and go from "the Best" to just another player maker.

Anyway it does what I bought it for, would not buy another until what I see as the shortfalls (and it seems many others) are addresses.

Really foolish of A C Ryan Management to loose the momentum they had a year ago, IMO.

I've tried it, and while the UI is satisfactory in terms of speed and performance on my DD+, the Audio is lacking compared to r2115 (which is frustrating). My reference rips of Megamind, and A-Team (both DTSHDMA7.1) are passed through correctly to my Sony DH800, and you can discern the audio quality (on 2115). Not so with the mede8er r5315 which displays DTS ES Mtx, and DTS respectively for the test rips, and whose audio quality lacks subjective clarity and general "surround" quality.

The sdk 4x is clearly delivering for audio; As i've mentioned before, an SDK 4x with rel 4318 UI is all that is needed to make (at least) me happy.

P
Firstly, To stay on topic i would like to say i do like r2115's sdk, just not the UI's slowness, scanning and missing features compared to previous firmwares. phrane, like you i really do hope to see sdk4 with r4318 UI and its useful features like left/right seek, pressing menu button gives subtitle/audio/etc, italic subtitles. And hopefully shortcuts but that may be asking acryan for something they cant do.

Its most unfortunate that m*****r r5315 firmware audio is lacking for you. However i believe that its an inherent lacking of sdk3 which i believe is what its based on. But for me since playon is connected directly to tv by hdmi cable, it works fine. The UI is acceptably fast and stable for me. Not one reboot so far(touch wood) :) And having shortcuts are most most convenient.
