Yup, that's me over there on Hardwarezone, Miko. :grinning:

Hello Eugene; deep respect for the way you keep up with all the questions on hardware zone and the way you manage to answer all of the questions asked. It's a shame that there is no smilie available that shows respect. Otherwise you would get it from me ;)

greetings, Miko

Thanks Miko... You've just brighten my day!!! :D

Was curious is the fix for the unit re powering itself after being turned off going to be in this firmware? I remember someone from ACRyan mentioning it in another post.

I have to say I have managed to put my test unit to standby every time the red button was pressed in this new firmware. It appears that this firmware will freeze the last screen and shut down all services and do a proper shutdown in the background before cutting off the display. We will still need users to feedback on this once the firmware is released.

I think I might have found the problem. It only seemed to happen when movie preview is on. and after movie is played. (over the network) not sure on USB or Internal

Oh, that's quite a finding. Thanks for the feedback. Let me try to duplicate it on our side. :)

nope has nothing to do with it

I have movie preview off I have an internal HDD and USB stick connected and it still happens, after I added an internal HDD it happened even more often, everytime I have to shutdown the device twice

As informed, Realtek has yet to receive any schedule from Dolby on the TrueHD development. Thus it will not be ready even with the official release of the new firmware.

Interesting, since Dolby TrueHD (and DTS-HD) was supported in the first versions (first batch).

And again, any news on 6-channel LPCM?

Indeed, the very first RTD1073DA media processor was already in development sometime back in 4th quarter 2008. And when it is launched worldwide roughly in May/June this year, all the various HD audio pass-through is already finalised in it. Then comes the new RTD1073DD version which was roughly released in Aug this year, supporting DTS downmix function. HD audio development is then being worked on between Dolby, DTS and Realtek for this RTD1073DD.

Multi-channel LPCM should also be available in the latest development kit. I will have news of this soon from our development team. ;)

Eugene, i have one from the first series and a Onkyo TX-SR504E which has no hdmi, and HD audio support. Will there be a possibility to downgrade the high definition audio to DTS or DD5.1 (without EX).

The player is connected through optical btw and sound is great as a matter of fact if my receiver is capable of understanding the stream
:grinning:

will gapless playback be supported in the near future?
and what about .cue support with mixalbums? will we be able to skip through tracks within 1 big file?
if we play a track, and we delete some other track, playback stops.
support for newsgroups?
those are things i really would love to see on the POHD

We experiment with gapless (seamless) playback before but the results are not satisfactory when we playback from a network or NAS device. The current back to back playback is only like 1sec apart so it doesn't really affect playback experience and still maintain functionality of playing back series of videos from internal/external/network drives.

No idea of .cue support, no one seems to have raise this before, would you like to explain more about this? Is this gonna be those .cue and .bin files found in video images? The current firmware already supports DVD .ISO and you will be able to skip through individual chapters with the Previous/Next button.

And newsgroup, are you referring to RSS feeds?

1. well i have a lot of albums on my hdd with tracks that overlap eachother a bit, it would be nice if the transitions work properly instead of waiting 1 second till the next track plays. couldn't you just add the functionality for internal drives?

2. with .cue support i also mean music albums, they're usually in .wav/.flac and added to that is a .cue file. it's common if a complete cd has been ripped as 1 whole file. it's basically a textfile telling where the tracks begin and end, plus you can add metadata to it, like Artist, Album, etc.
it would be nice if i could just skip between these tracks, evne though the album is just 1 wavefile.

example of a cuesheet:

Quote:
TITLE "Live in Berlin, 1998"
PERFORMER "Faithless"
FILE "faithless - live in berlin.mp3" MP3
TRACK 01 AUDIO
TITLE "Reverence"
PERFORMER "Faithless"
INDEX 01 00:00:00
TRACK 02 AUDIO
TITLE "She's My Baby"
PERFORMER "Faithless"
INDEX 01 06:42:00
TRACK 03 AUDIO
TITLE "Take The Long Way Home"
PERFORMER "Faithless"
INDEX 01 10:54:00
TRACK 04 AUDIO
TITLE "Insomnia"
PERFORMER "Faithless"
INDEX 01 17:04:00
TRACK 05 AUDIO
TITLE "Bring The Family Back"
PERFORMER "Faithless"
INDEX 01 25:44:00
TRACK 06 AUDIO
TITLE "Salva Mea"
PERFORMER "Faithless"
INDEX 01 30:50:00
TRACK 07 AUDIO
TITLE "Dirty Old Man"
PERFORMER "Faithless"
INDEX 01 38:24:00
TRACK 08 AUDIO
TITLE "God Is A DJ"
PERFORMER "Faithless"
INDEX 01 42:35:00

3. not sure where you're from, but newsgroups are a way to post messages, but nowadays people mostly use it to download basically anything. because these newsgroups are hosted by every internet provider, you will always get your maximum speed, in comparison to bittorrent where your download speed relies on the speed of other uploaders. for a lot of european people it would be a great addition

I give my voice to ask for ".cue" support - this is very useful!
