Post New Firmware
Just wondering if a ACR staff member could be disturbed to maybe let all of their clients now what the status is of a new firmware coming out. Aside from "we are starting from scratch" in a topic we can't respond anymore I feel that we are left in the dark without a clue of whenever something is coming. How hard can it be to make an official statement or even a kind of WIP (work in progress). The only thing that really pisses off everyone is that we are left with any kind of information except the fact that the HD2 and HD2 mini isn't working as they should and have big flaws. So, please ACR? Almost two months after the latest firmware that wasn't really a update.. What is happening?

I second this request. Please keep communicating to us and give us a status update once in a while... it only takes you a couple of minutes.

Hi to both of you :)

Sorry for any inconvenience regarding the lack of updates. We are still currently working on the next firmware version for your models. As there are still bugs that do exist like few audio bugs and some other thing, sorry i cannot give the full details. The estimated time to launch a new firmware is always 3-4 months after the last one, but we are pushing it.

Any fix that can be confirmed on the firmware version we are doing, i will post and give the updates.

Since the latest sdk demands more programming and also a new gui is used it simply takes more time to develop a new fw.

That might very well be the case but that's not what Roger said.

"The estimated time to launch a new firmware is always 3-4 months after the last one"

And since Paula herself said that you rebuilt your firmware from scratch every week (since you got a new SDK version once a week) I seriously doubt that it should take you 3-4 months to produce a new firmware.

new fw every week or once a week correct but since sometimes maybe 1 or 2 bugs are solved in that weekly fw you can't release that.

We test that (we have a big list with things we test known bugs audio formats video formats etc etc etc) we also sometimes find new bugs and report that back to the dev team

They process that analyze that and produce again a new internal fw and we start all over again.

And i must say for the hd2 which is the base for the hd1 gui series . it's going the way we want it.

Some really annoying bugs are resolved some not and some things are faster now.

So when this fw is finally good enough for public release it can be ported to the hd1 series and the dvr-hd series

So have some patient they want to do it right this time :)

And believe me we mods are volunteers but besides the moderating we also test many hours for you guys/girls so you get a good fw.

Firmware developing is a time consuming process.
And in the past they delivered many fast updates to give the newest options available.
But this also resulted in a unstable fw.

They now stick to 1 sdk version make that one stable and bugfree as much as possible.

We do the best we can :)

Post Re: New Firmware
Hi,

I bought a HD2 and - naturally - have these "gap-problems". Sounds bad. HD2 is unusable.

And what does this "shame-of-a-company" AC Ryan tells me: We know the problem. Its because of a hardware SDK on the Realtek side. We hope next SDK will solve the problem. Happy listening so long.

A not ready, not usable product should not be sold !

This makes me angry. And gives your company a very bad smell. A kind of never-again-company.

Regards

This gap bug is a bug which lies by realtek.

As much as we want to fix it we can't because Realtek is controlling that part of the sdk.

Well, maybe that is one of the reasons why XTreamer does not use the Realtek SDK on their Playon!HD2 clone.

It was said by AC Ryan we could have expected a new firmware last week. Spoke with someone of technical support. And why not regulary release a firmware with just a few bug fixes ? I rather have 4 new firmwares with minor bugfixes in 2 months time than one big update.

Every bug that has been fixed is a relief for HD2 users. Letting them wait for months, shifting the release date for the next firmware every time is not.

The best I could have done is saving a few people on this forum from the Playon!HD2 horrors that are presented at the moment. Luckily enough they were able to return their Playon!HD2 and buy players from other vendors instead on my advice. Sometimes I just feel like a saint =^.^=

Do you work @ x-treamer ? probaly not.
Do you know that all realtek players come from the same factory ?
They all use the same sdk ?

So stop talking about things you don'w know about.

It's a marketing trick we don't do that we don't have this etc etc

All players from realtek have there problems sdk related or not !!

And thats a fact !

To give you a idea

On the prodigy page they claim they have usb 3 and the china clone (mede8or acryan etc etc) don;t have it : False hd2 has usb 3

They claim they have gigabit lan and china clone not - Also false

And so one.
All the options you see at the prodigy product page can also be done on the acryan mede8or etc with sdk 4.

But it's a choice wich options to use or not.
