Post Other firmware for POHD
This topic is meant to discuss using other than native firmware on your PlayOn HD, 1st generation.
It has to be said that all actions are on your own risk.

Here you can find the unlocked firmware from the Mede8er.
*link removed*

Several users already mentioned that it works like a charm in the POHD, with minor imperfections.

Please feel free to discuss your experiences or questions to each-other in this topic, rather than in other AC Ryan firmware topics.

Edit: I'm sorry guys, but it's not allowed to link to other firmwares or topics discussing them.
I also should mention that you lose your right on guarantee by using other firmware than one from AC Ryan.

If you want to try something else either way, no one will stop you using Google and looking for unlocked firmware for Mede8er on PlayOn HD...

it's sad that links to alternative firmwares in this forum are removed, alternative firmware might help to develop better original firmwares.
I have already tried the mede8er firmware and looks good, but misses a number of options but is very fast.

What I basically said in viewtopic.php?f=44&t=12424 before my posts were deleted (and given a warning) was that things in ACRyan must be going badly when it's possible to use another company's firmware, such as Mede8er, and it works better.

(wonder if this will be deleted too?)

Modded Mede8er firmware works perfect on HD1. This leads to the question why bother with a ACRyan box. Moded Mede8er works identical on much cheaper PBO and Icy Boxes. Or really any generic Chinese brand with a 1073DD chip on it. All these boxes are made by the same 2 companies anyway.

I think the link should be allowed. This is a forum and not a marketing channel of ACRyan.
Other Firmwares were allowed to be posted in Other Development, so why disallow this?
The member should not be denied of these things, especially if the official ACRyan firmware is flawed.
These other firmwares should inspire ACRyan to do better.

If you search on the terms I gave in my first post on Google, you'll find the forum discussing the Mede8er FW.

I also got a board warning.

Secondly the mod told me that different than native (so eg. Mede8er) firmware, also uses a different boot loader, which could give a problem when flashing back to original AC Ryan firmware.

AC Ryan cán see if there's another bootloader been installed on your unit, when you'd send it in for repair / guarantee. But, my guess is, you could only see this on the hard drive.

BTW, the link is still visible (for now) in the 2115 topic... just scroll upwards...

The main thing is that you will loose your waranty.

And this is a Ac ryan forum and not a mede8or forum ;)

Links to other brand firmware modified or not is not allowed.

Modded firmware from original Ac ryan firmware is allowed but on own risk.

The warranty is the least of my worries, I just want a product that works and if using another company's firmware makes it work then so be it. It currently doesn't satisfactorily work with ACR firmware and if it stops working with Mede8tor then I've not exactly lost anything!

Post Re: Other firmware for POHD
i will try to explain this for the last time!!!

i have done a lot of work and asking Acryan,
to create this subforum for all users that would like to customise the original firmware,
from Acryan.

well finally they agreed and this subforum has been created,
if we (the mods) would see to it that no other firmware from other brands would be mentioned here
or even be linked here.

so this subforum is for those whom want to create and debate,
other development concerning the original software from Acryan.

so these kinds of topics are bound to be the reason to lock
this subforum.

as it is for the users by the users,
i don`t think most of the users are happy with this development about the here
named firmware.

if you all like it? good.

go to the forum of that player and see how long they accept,
you all talking about the playonhd and its firmware.

i guess it will be deleted in one day.

this is a forum for all of you,
things like this topic there are a lot of other forum boards where you all are able to talk
free about this.

and i know most of you also do this,
as that forumboard also contains the link to this frimware.

so please do the other users,
that spend a lot of work in this subforum,
a great pleasur and keep all discussion about otehr brands firmwares,
on the forumboard where the mede8er firmware firwst was released.

and keep all links concerning this firmware,
away from this board.

i really hope you will respect this,
and most of all respect the other user-developers here in this subforum.

;)
