Thank you thank you thank you!!! This is exactly the kind of UI and functionality I expected from my PlayonHD mini! ... even surprised with iPhone remote :-) cool

Of course now you should make it a little bit more responsive here and there, but in general - this is the way to go!!! Congratulations!

P.S. I'll have to now talk to people I advised not to buy PlayOn because of long wait for new promised UI :-(

I don't think AC Ryan built this. I think this is in the standard realtek sdk.
The faq.html and howto.html are still emty.

There is also a torrent website. http://<ip>:1024/WebTorrentHome.html

But it is a very nice feature.

I doubt it...
Look at the <enter> button. Might be a benefit of the SDK though.
nevertheless :D

Does the new firmware not support USB drives with HFS (Mac) filesystem?

I plugged in a HFS drive and the file manager didn't see any files on the drive, but a FAT32 drive works fine? I had been using this HFS drive as my main video drive with the prior firmware w/o problems.

Have the same problem with a competing brand media player, which I never use because of this issue.

**EDIT: I see others have the same problem. I'm downgrading firmware until this issue is resolved. Hope it will be solved soon, a media player that doesn't support HFS is a brick as far as I'm concerned.

I am an "HFS-guy" too. This beta do not support HFS as stated in the release notes. So we have to wait.

Since the install of the new firmware I've got sometimes the "Unknown Hardware"-Error - after rebooting the player a few times the error is gone.

Since SDK 3 firmware I have always troublewith "Unknown Hardware! Why? Either the hardware is known or the hardware is unknown, so I can not understand why everything works fine for days and suddenly you get an error message when power on on the player.

I also have this problem on my POHD Mini (73100), already since a few latest firmware releases. I hoped r2115 solved the problem, but the problem still exsists. I always have to shut off and on the mains power and then after this cold restart the POHD starts normal, without the "Unknown Hardware" message. Is the warm restart (by means of power off/on key on the remote control) nota as warm as it should be? There must be a solution for this problem. Isn't it?

Regards, Henk

We are glad to let you know that almost all audio and HD audio formats have been tested working successfully in HDMI and SPDIF. There are unfortunately still some small problems with Dolby Digital Plus in pass-through and FLAC (some files give random stuttering). We have however, already found the problem of Dolby Digital Plus which requires changes in the core coding. We therefore expect to have this fixed in a upcoming firmware.

Hi, a bit late to the party having just updated this morning, I've had an annoying issue since I bought the Mini which I had put down to the audio issue which is described as above and confirmed by others to be fixed

Basically if I have my SPDIF set to passthrough and play back an MP4 with AAC audio, I don't hear anything, if I play back with AC3 I do and I've had to change to LPCM to playback the "silent" files.

I am wondering now, given that this is fixed, if my issue is actually down to the AAC being passed through and my amp not knowing what to do with it :(

The new look is a big improvement and I didn't find it particularly sluggish although I just use File Manager/Browser.

Minor point I have 2 USB Hard Drives plugged in and the previous firmware showed the device names, this one doesn't (Mine are Film & TV which is helpful to see)

Lastly a request, if it turns out my audio issue is down to my hardware I'd be surprised if I was alone, is it possible to have a shortcut key whilst watching a video to change audio mode rather than having to stop the video go to settings>audio>SPDIF?

Apologies is some of this answered in the rest of the thread I did read through it all first, but may have missed something

Thanks

You're not alone with this issue, sorry I can't find any official response from AC Ryan though but hopefully it will work in the next Beta.
But since they removed the "found bugs" list in the first post I have no clue if they will adress it.

Regarding your request to switch audio setting on the fly, I have requested the same thing in the "Development & Feature Request forum": viewtopic.php?f=109&t=12755

I think I have read it on the forums at some point before but just want to confirm (and also curious about the amount of things NOT available on the playon but are on the med8er).

Will it ever be possible for the playon to out HD audio over LPCM?

As it is it doesn't even output DD/DTS over multi-chan LPCM at the moment on my amp at least but my amp can do HD audio via LPCM. I am fairly sure it would mean the playon would have to decode the HD audio itself then output which I can understand may not be possible.

But can someone please confirm?

Cheers.

Unfortunately I'll have to put the r3582 version back on my Mini for now. Too much issues with this one. But I really do hope you can get this Beta version stable because I do really like it!

When you need more input I am allways prepared to help you test it. Just let me know.

Regards
