Flashing Procedures:
Two methods to flash the firmware to your Playon Essential

Normal flashing procedure (Recommended):
1. Download and extract the .install.img and bin.wifi.zip into the root folder of a USB-stick. Make sure the USB-stick is formatted to FAT32.
2. Enter the Setup menu, System, USB Upgrade and Enter to confirm.
3. The firmware update will start flashing on your display in a moment and will automatically reboot when
update is completed

**Do not power off the unit during the flashing process!**


Safe-mode flashing procedure:
1. Download and extract the .install.img and bin.wifi.zip into the root folder of a USB-stick. Make sure the USB-stick is formatted to FAT32.
2. Insert the USB-stick to your player.
3. Shutdown the player.
4. Press and hold down the power button in front of the player for 15 seconds.
5. Your player will restart and install the new firmware.

**Do not power off the unit during the flashing process!**

My BIGGEST Problem with the Essential is the extrem bad Remote Control

3m from Essential to Remote Control and i must pull 3,4 or more bevore it goes

is it fixed in the new FW?

I love A.C.Ryan but my old POHD is damaged after one Year and the new Essential makes RC Problems. Thats not so fine

The slow remote respons have been fixed long time ago, it was on the beta firmware and this firmware is like the 3rd since the Essential came out...

With this firmware release, the ZOOM function on the remote does not work anymore. The media player reboots everytime I click on the ZOOM button.

The Screen Size function in the SETUP / DISPLAY menu does not work.

Are you sure you have the lataste firmware?

I've just tried one of my videofile and it works, dont know about other video formats though.
Think it was a .mkv I tried.

I have the same problem here, after update my Playon HD Essential's firmware to PV73500 v.5.4.3.r1964 (Asian Edition). The ZOOM fuction does not work, it will restart the media player everytime we click it.
Hope A.C. Ryan will solve this problem soon.

I just tried my Essential.
I dont have any problem with the zoom function, tried on mkv and dvd-movies (ifo/vob).
Have the europe version.

These problems exist in version for Europe. Hope you get better!

I have just finished download the new firmware.
Seem like there are several bugs found so better stick with the old one right?
Glad I read here first, what a waste of time it might be

You have to use the latest firmware if you want to use wifi usb-dongle.
The old didnt had support for it.
