If you look at devices like Fantec HDRTV, Emtec Q800 (I had this before until it died), Muvid MMPR and some otheres (have a look at http://www.station-drivers.com/page/fg1200r.htm), you see that the newest Firmware Version is 868, ACRyan and Fantec is 866. I have tried the firmware from different manufactorers / resellers on my box and the result is the same: timer schedule bug.
The problem is mainly a Realtek problem with the software for the 1262-chipset. The interesting part of the Linux based firmware is a piece of software called "Dvdplayer". Unluckily, this isn't Open Source, there is no source code available, and so we (and ACRyan and a lot of other dealers) have a problem with the bug. As result, I won't buy another Realtek based DVR. And if I were a distributor I would avoid selling those Realtek devices until they do their homework properly.

And there are some other bugs, the internet radio is crap. After adding some favorites it crashes the box, there is no search option, ...

You download the Emtec Q800 firmware 868 from

The change log remains the same as our previous 842 version, as there are no major changes except for some codes to improve on the schedule recording.

We would like to have your feedback if this version works for you.

Since we have not seen any further update from the ACRYAN for PLayon! DVRTV 72100, I started looking around for ACRYAN clones for updates There are 5 clones of ACRYAN Playon! DVRTV.

This Firmware is built from several Devices with VENUS Linux from REALTEK, use it for FREE and at your own risk! .

How to flash the firmware?
What do i need to succeed?
Here is a SIX step procedure to install the firmware

First of all: The Ingredients.

-1 USB memory stick of appropriate size
-A suitable firmware for your box, with added MHDWorld backdoor
-the current MHDWorld IPKG (the package containing all these nice and face add ons)

Second: Preparing the stick.

- Backup its contents of USB stick.
- empty the stick or, if not already done already, format it with FAT32
- unpack the content of the firmware-archive and the ipkg-archive to the sticks root directory
(Number of files may slightly differ, since some firmware-archives contain less files than others)

Image
Third: Eject / unmount the stick and pull it out.

Fourth: Get over to the box, inform the ones watching tv right now that their program will be interupted for higher purposes and shut down the box. stick the usb stick into the boxes usb port, disconnect mains from the box (pull the plug, unless you really know what you are doing - then you may also use the hard power switch at the back of the box ;) just dont confuse it with the soft power button at the front!) hold the soft power button and put the power back on. while still holding the soft-power button for approx. 5 seconds you should see the installation screen showing up on your tv set.

Fifth: wait.

Sixth: After a Reboot the box needs to be set up. Configure the network interface using the tv menu. After you are done you should be able to access the box bia a web browser. If the Installation worked properly, the MHDWorld Homepage should occour, if anything went wrong, all you get will probably be a red background with the MHDWorld Backdoor options in front. If so, just install the IPKG manually through the webinterface - either on SDA, which happens to be your USB stick or on HDD1 which should be the internal harddrive).

@George,

What was the size of your downloaded Honki's firmware zip file? What tool did you use to unzip it?
The correct size of the zipped firmware is 15984KB.

There is a freeware tool for compressing/uncompressing on Wndows caledl tugzip. Use Tugzip, which is quite reliable.
http://www.tugzip.com/Downloads.html

I am using the Honki's 905_4.10 firmware and it is quite stable.

Hello hnvijay
In advance I apologize cause I am newbie about media players and all look "chinese" to me
I downloaded Honki-Firmware_905_4.10-PV72100TV.zip 15,6MB and MHDWorld-4.10e_30.01.2011.zip 21,4MB.
I tried to unzip these files using Winrar, therefor was not possible.
Now, using tugzip, unzipping was successfull.
At last I have five (5) unzipped files:

ACRYAN_PV72100TV-905_4.10_09-01-2011
arial.ttf
crc32.txt
install.flash.img
mhdworld_mipsel.ipk

Is that correct or something is missing?
Thank you for your time.
G.

Now that you have uncompressed these two files, here are simplre steps to install the firmware.
you will find exactly 9 files, when you unzip both the zip files(Honki-Firmware_905_4.10-PV72100TV.zip 15,6MB and MHDWorld-4.10e_30.01.2011.zip). Put all the contents of the unzipped files to root directory of a pendrive. Do not create any folders inside the pendrive.

The files are
ACRYAN_PV72100TV-905_4.10_09-01-2011
arial.ttf
crc32.txt
install.flash.img
mhdworld_mipsel.ipk
MHDWorld-4.10d_23.01.2011 (the version for you is 4.10e)
video_firmware.bin
logo_pal.bmp
install_a

1. Connect the penrive to the USB port of the Media player.
2. Now shutdown the mediaplayer and power off the supply(backside switch)
3. Hold the softpower button on the frontside of the player.
4. Now power on the media player(backside) while holding the front soft power button.
5. Leave the front power button only when the installation progress bar starts (about 5-10 sec).
6. Now wait for about 10 minutes( grab a cup of coffee if you like :-) ). The media player probes the TV and tries to set the video configuration after the installation. So the screen may go blank couple of times.
Finally the media player reboots.
7. Onces the media player reboots, You need to configure your network settings( wireless or wired), using
Setup->network on your remote.

IP address (your IP address)
Netmask 255.25.255.0
Gateway ( yopur gateway)

Once this is done, you access the media player from a
PC web browser like internet explorer. firefox.

type <your ipaddress> on the browser, you will get web interface of the media player.

Thats it.

Let me know if this info is sufficient.

Post Re: Released: 31/01/2010 Firmware version 6.2.1262UO(866)
Thank you hnvijay for information, but..hold on..
After unzipping both zip files, I got 4 (four) files unzipping Honki-Firmware_905_4.10-PV72100TV.zip

ACRYAN_PV72100TV-905_4.10_09-01-2011
arial.ttf
crc32.txt
install.flash.img

and 1 (one) file unzipping MHDWorld-4.10e_30.01.2011.zip

mhdworld_mipsel.ipk

You mentioned 9 files totally, where are the 4 missing?

MHDWorld-4.10d_23.01.2011 (the version for you is 4.10e)
video_firmware.bin
logo_pal.bmp
install_a

These 4 files I did not get.
Where are they?
George.

Hi George,
As i mentioned earlier, there are exactly 9 files.
Seven files from unzipping the Honki's firmware

ACRYAN_PV72100TV-905_4.10_09-01-2011
arial.ttf
crc32.txt
install.flash.img
video_firmware.bin
logo_pal.bmp
install_a

and two from 4.10e ipk.

mhdworld_mipsel.ipk
MHDWorld-4.10e_30.01.2011

Did you extract it and check?

Please find the attached snapshot of tugzip showing these files.

Post Re: Released: 31/01/2010 Firmware version 6.2.1262UO(866)
hi hnvijay

Your snapshots are very informative, I wish I could send you mine, but I don't know how to get..
Anyway, after extraction I see on my screen the same windows like your's but..extracting Honki-Firmware_905_4.10-PV72100TV I get that four files as I mentioned previously and extracting MHDWorld-4.10e_30.01.2011 I get one file as I mentioned previously also.

I really do not know what's goin'on, where are the four more missing files:

video_firmware.bin
logo_pal.bmp
install_a
MHDWorld-4.10d_23.01.2011 (the version for me is 4.10e as you mentioned)

You know, something else I have noticed, unzipped filles are 15,6Mb for Honki-Firmware_905_4.10-PV72100TV and 21,4Mb for MHDWorld-4.10e_30.01.2011.
When I see these zip files opening Tugzip, they are 15,98Mb first and 21,99 the second.
As I see on your snapshots, they are diffirent size, 15,6Mb for first and 21,4Mb for the second one, the same size as my unzipped files are.

Does it help you to find out what's going on to me?
From the other side, maybe possible for you to send me that four missing files above by mail?
Are they very big? (cause I never saw them  )
Thanks
