i love my POHD but i hate the 40mm Cooler

In my PC Box is some old Stuff, Cable, Cooler, etc.
I put a 120mm Cooler with Rubber Sticks (no vibration) in the Top of the POHD and a old
Zalman Fan Control

Now the POHD is total quiet and very very cool





What do you think?

If you could manage to place the fan inside the POHD it's a nice solution

I ive in Singapore - cooling is definitely an issue

The 120mm fan is a nice option, but it's not always pratical.
I have a AC Ryan PlayonHD with a 1,5 GB Samsung HDD and the fan was making a lot of noise.
I removed the original 40mm fan and replaced it with a Scyth Mini Kaze 40mm.
The new fan has the same size, but is very quiet.
I bought the fan in the Netherlands for EUR 6.

A few tips to keep the noise down: use a big fan BUT not power it with 12v instead use 5v (sata power cable) less RPM's so less noise...
The HDD.. use a 5400rpm drive the best option is a notebook drive
most 2.5" drives (not all) are very quit..

Another HDD tip... Just use a smaller (cheaper) drive in your player.. (320/500GB) this
should be plenty for the media you want to use..
Then use a 1 or 2TB (Sata-> USB) for archiving the stuff you want to keep..
A HDD can run many hours (years) but there is always the risk of breaking down and
losing data..(in my case almost 2TB)
Do you got stuff you really not want to loose (picture) make several backups
and keep also a backup somewhere else (friends/office/parents) No point having several
backups if your house burn down...USB sticks are perfect they have no moving parts and can have some abuse....
