[HOW TO] Change the BitTorrent default port number
Saw quite a handful of discussion regarding the slow speed and decided to tweak the settings a bit. I managed to find some time this evening to toy with the media player. After 15 minutes of digging and tweaking, I managed to clock 395kBps using the BitTorrent on the A.C.Ryan PlayOn!HD. It is not fast but I hope by changing the default port number will help. For the instructions, check out BitTorrent on A.C.Ryan PlayOn!HDHope it helps.

Hi shadowandy,
Thank you for this How To. I will forward it to our techies, they can probably distinct the problems of the default settings out of your description.

I too, thought the downloadspeed was very low. After the guide from shadowandy about changing the port, nothing changed. Thanks to that same guide, I enter the wonderfull world of port forwarding. After I got the hang of it, the speeds multiplies with a factor of 15-20, with peaks of 650 Kb/s So don't forget to port forward ( www.portforward.com) The only thing I got to deal with is that the bittorrent starts over after a reboot....

Re: [HOW TO] Change the BitTorrent default port number
Hi! My downlaod speed is really slow so I changed the settings as explained on the link fo the first post, but the download speed is still slow. Maybe I'm doing something wrong: My line 158/207 looks like this: Code: $btpdbin -p 20360 --max-peers 50 Can anyone confirm if I'm doing right the part of the dash before the word max? Between btpdin and -p there is onyl one space, is it right or there should be two spaces? Thanks a lot

Re: [HOW TO] Change the BitTorrent default port number
Of course I opened the ports on my router. Can you confirm if the line I modified is right?

Can you confirm if the line I modified is right? yup, it looks correct. chances are your ISP is throttling BT traffic, and since btpd doesn't support protocol encryption, you still experience slow download speeds on POHD. trying using transmission, that should improve download speeds for you, it did for me.
