Post Playlist problems!
I have made a m3u playlist, and finally got it to play with some modifications to the path in the m3u file, and placing it directly in the root of "music"
My mp3 files are located in music\mp3, music\dansk mp3, music\comedy and so on
(only 6 folders with maximum 2 subfolders)

However, there is supposed to be 5052 mp3 files in the playlist, but my Mini only shows 2047!
On my pc everything is fine.
What could be the problem here?

Some of the files have "special characters", because æ, ø and å are part of the Danish alphabet, so i would very much like to stille use them, and it looks like these are problematic...most of them just turns out a "File does not exist" when i try to play from the playlist. Are these characters not supported by the Mini?

I'm on FW 4415.

Hmmm firmware 4415, let me check and test it. Im sure there is a fast work around for it, if not have to report it as a bug for future fix.

Cool, thanks :-)

I'm pretty sure it has nothing to do with spaces in folder- and file names, but just for peace of mind, could you verify this too?

PS: Really really really hoping that the GUI 2.0 will support networked drives in indexing, searching etc.!
If it will, then ther will be a dramatic reduction for the need of playlists! (which ultimately would make dev teams task easier i think...but then again, i'm nowhere near being a software guru  )

Well, you might save yourself some time, because i'm having the exact same problem on my PlayOn!HD as on my Mini!
The PlayOn!HD is on older firmware...can'tr remember which, but it's one of the older firmwares, from before the catastrophic GUI changes to "hardly visible green/black" in the browser menus.

It must be something else ;)

Any other ideas for me to test?

With regards to the playlist via a network connection (NAS): can anybody confirm this will be available in the new 2.0 software release?

Hi Mureren
What modifications did you make to the paths in the m3u file to get it to work?

Some of the mods mentioned in your summary i believe :D
Can't really remember exactly what it was right now, but i never got it to work properly :(
There's always a 2-3 second delay when selecting a new song to play, so you never get the full "intro". That however, could be my Onkyo 805 being slow at detecting the output. There's a "new" firmware (DSP firmware only) out for it, and that should make it detect if it's stereo/DD whatever, much faster, but sadly it's a pain to upgrade the firmware, so i haven't done it yet.

And worse...i still couldn't get it to find the missing files from the playlist, so i left it, and haven't bothered with it since :|

Files are placed on my wired Synology DS210J in:
Diskstation (S:)/music/"folders with different names and max 2 subfolders in it"

Here's a copy/paste from a random place in the playlist file:

Let us know if you manage to get ALL your files in the playlist AND play (assuming you have around the same number of files as i do)!

Post Re: Playlist problems!
Hi

A bit more on playlists follwing the advice from mureren
My music share on my NAS is automounted at startup onto /tmp/ramfs/volumes/Music.
I've created an m3u playlist using Windows Media Player - it's got 4003 tracks in it
I've moved the m3u file into the root of my msuic share, and the PlayonHD mini sees it in the USB / Music folder in the GUI Browser, and identifies it as an mp3 playlist. (I'm using firmware r4415)
The generated playlist has a full url reference to the files - but the PlayonHD mini only seems to see / play the files if I convert this into a path relative to the playlist - no worries here, two minutes with notepad sorted that out.
However, although I've got 4003 tracks in it, the PlayonHD Mini only sees the first 1365 tracks in the file.
Looking at the contents of the m3u file. there is a file header line plus three lines per track, including a blank line. Do the maths for 1365 tracks and you get 4096 lines of text. Line 4096 in my m3u file is the last track that the POHD Mini can see.
Can someone from AC Ryan confirm my observations that there is a 4096 line limit on playlist files - and possibly explain why?
Otherwise the playlist file is working - tracks are being played, I just can't set the mini to play my whole collection end to end for example, due to the file size limit
I do get a couple of seconds gap between tracks, but no loss of intro.
As the m3u file is using relative paths, relative to the m3u file itself, it ought to work with shortcuts setup through the GUI, although I haven't tested that.
