 Re: ACR-PV73100 v7.3.x.r4824 Playon!HD (Optware friendly)
That's correct, almost everything is by default disabled so everybody can turn on whatever services he wants. Make sure you have optS (Optware start-up script) running at the end of /usr/local/etc/myS: Code: # Running Optware start-up script sh /usr/local/etc/optS > /dev/console& And in /usr/local/etc/optS enable transmission: Code: # Starting Transmission nice -n 0 /opt/bin/transmission-daemon You can use 'nano' or 'mc' to edit files. After reboot transmission will be running automatically.

Thanks, will do that, just trying to grab a nzb app, nzbget didn't have a webgui I think by default and to be honest I'm not entirely sure how I'd install it anyway, trying sabnzbdplus now, it claims to have a frontend so fingers crossed that will solve that issue.
Are you familiar with nzbget at all? Any advice you could throw in my direction?
I'm fairly new with linux/telnet and the like, but loving the learning curve!
Thanks again,
HJ

 Re: ACR-PV73100 v7.3.x.r4824 Playon!HD (Optware friendly)
Quick update, I've added the two lines of code to the two files, rebooted and transmisson isn't starting, I've checked the process list and there's nothing there - nothing on web port 8080 either.
Any ideas?
Thanks

HJ Well I have them enabled in mentioned files and they running after each start-up. Things you can try/check: 1) Somewhere at the end of /usr/local/etc/rcS should be: sh /usr/local/etc/myS > /dev/console& 2) Enable something else in myS and optS files, reboot and check on process list if anything of it is running 3) Check permissions of myS and optS (should be 755)

HJ I don't use it, but I saw once PHP-based web interface for nzbget included in different media player, so it can be done. You'll need lighttpd or apache though.

Strangely enough I was trying to mediatomb working but that doesn't fire up either. I know the web front end certainly doesn't work. I did notice it started the http server twice on port 1024. I wonder if it could be anything to do with what I had installed previously? I installed the flash using safe mode but what happens to the Linux partition? Does it get formatted? I have a feeling bits I installed previously are messing things up. Is there any way of performing a "clean" install ie so that all the Linux files are as per a virgin install? Thanks for your assistance. HJ

If httpd is running twice on 1024, then certainly something is wrong. Linux partition is not formatted during install, because there's no need to. All start-up scripts are on flash. You performed clean flash procedure correctly.
Try to enable ntpd in myS and if that doesn't run after reboot, then send me your rcS, myS and optS - I'll look into it.

Something is working there. Here's the run down of my processes running on reboot- Code: PID USER VSZ STAT COMMAND 1 root 1844 S init 2 root 0 SWN [ksoftirqd/0] 3 root 0 SW< [events/0] 4 root 0 SW< [khelper] 5 root 0 SW< [kthread] 6 root 0 SW< [kblockd/0] 7 root 0 SW [khubd] 8 root 0 SW [rpc-1] 9 root 0 SW [rpc-3] 10 root 0 SW [pdflush] 11 root 0 SW [pdflush] 13 root 0 SW< [aio/0] 14 root 0 SW< [cifsoplockd] 15 root 0 SW< [cifsdnotifyd] 12 root 0 SW [kswapd0] 16 root 0 SW [eth0] 17 root 0 SW [mtdblockd] 25 root 1844 S init 26 root 1844 S init 29 root 1844 S init 32 root 1844 S init 110 root 1856 S inetd 120 root 0 SW< [sata_eh/0] 127 root 0 SW [scsi_eh_0] 131 root 1848 S /usr/sbin/httpd -p 1024 -h /www 133 root 1848 S tail -f /tmp/ir 134 root 404 S ./RootApp DvdPlayer 135 root 404 S ./RootApp DvdPlayer 139 root 791m S < DvdPlayer 140 root 404 S ./RootApp DvdPlayer 141 root 1848 S /usr/sbin/ntpd -p pool.ntp.org 149 root 791m S DvdPlayer 150 root 791m S N DvdPlayer 151 root 791m S N DvdPlayer 158 root 791m S DvdPlayer 159 root 791m S DvdPlayer 170 root 791m S DvdPlayer 171 root 791m S DvdPlayer 172 root 791m S DvdPlayer 173 root 791m S DvdPlayer 174 root 791m S DvdPlayer 175 root 791m S DvdPlayer 176 root 791m S DvdPlayer 177 root 791m S DvdPlayer 178 root 791m S DvdPlayer 179 root 791m S DvdPlayer 180 root 791m S DvdPlayer 213 root 791m S DvdPlayer 243 root 791m S DvdPlayer 245 root 791m S DvdPlayer 246 root 791m S DvdPlayer 247 root 791m S DvdPlayer 248 root 791m S DvdPlayer 249 root 791m S DvdPlayer 252 root 791m S DvdPlayer 265 root 0 SW [scsi_eh_1] 267 root 0 SW [usb-storage] 288 root 0 SW [kjournald] 331 root 1856 S /usr/sbin/httpd -p 1024 -h /www 332 root 1848 S /bin/sh process.cgi 335 root 1848 R ps
PID #131 & #331 are the two httpd processes I was referring to - it runs twice. Here are my myS and optS files: myS: Code: #!/bin/sh # PlayOn!X: custom start-up script # Author: mikka [mika.hellmann@gmail.com]
# You should set timezone in /usr/local/etc/profile to use NTP like: # export TZ=MET-1METDST
# Running NTP client /usr/sbin/ntpd -p pool.ntp.org
# Synchronizing hardware clock /sbin/hwclock -w
# Activating swap space /sbin/swapon /tmp/hdd/volumes/HDD1/eswap
# Tuning system #/sbin/sysctl -p
# Running Optware start-up script sh /usr/local/etc/optS > /dev/console&
optS: Code: #!/bin/sh # PlayOn!X: Optware start-up script # Author: mikka [mika.hellmann@gmail.com]
# Waiting for HDD to load n=1 while [ ! -d /tmp/hdd/root/ ] ; do sleep 3 [ $n -gt 30 ] && break let n+=1 echo '#waiting for hdd..' echo $n done
# Starting vsftpd /opt/sbin/vsftpd /opt/etc/vsftpd.conf
# Starting translating webserver (recommended for MediaTomb) httpd -h /opt/share/www
# Starting MediaTomb /opt/bin/mediatomb -d -m /opt/etc -f mediatomb
# Starting Transmission nice -n 0 /opt/bin/transmission-daemon I hope it all makes more sense to you, as I said ntpd is definitely running as it shows in the process list plus the time is correct on the unit. Thanks for your assistance, very much appreciated. HJ

 Re: ACR-PV73100 v7.3.x.r4824 Playon!HD (Optware friendly)
You were right, this doesn't work as it should in released firmware. I've made some extra customizations just before releasing revision 3, but didn't include them in the firmware. Sorry for the trouble. Here's the problem: Code: # Waiting for HDD to load n=1 while [ ! -d /tmp/hdd/root/ ] ; do sleep 3 [ $n -gt 30 ] && break let n+=1 echo '#waiting for hdd..' echo $n done Temporarily you can delete it (or hash it) and paste something like sleep 30 instead. Permanent fix will come in next release. Thanks for notifying me about it. If you find something more or just have suggestions, please let me know. I've checked second instance of httpd - it's used by InfoSite. Never thought about it before. Like they say: every day is a good day to learn something new.

 Re: ACR-PV73100 v7.3.x.r4824 Playon!HD (Optware friendly)
Thanks so much, I presume "done" means exit? Basically nothing is run after that? That's just how I've read into that. Mediatomb now works but transmission still isn't running, the line is still present at the bottom of optS (nice -n 0 /opt/bin/transmission-daemon) - any further ideas? Thanks so much for your help, HJ [EDIT] Transmission appears to be running: Code: 395 root 4700 S /opt/bin/transmission-daemon
No web interface on port 8080 though ... should that be starting to in the process list?
