At 1080P and highest ReFrames available for that resolution, some files don't play fluently. But how come a Western Digtal Live! doesn't have that problem if it's also a Realtek-powered device?

Hi,

New firmware look great.
But there is many issue.
- When playing movie very slow
- After loading movie, there is some glitch or not smooth after several second
- The Subtitle still problem <i> </i>

I think the best firmware still 2010-06-23 # Firmware_PV73100_v7.0.6.r4318_Asian Beta

WD TV live is using Sigma not Realtek.

Hello,

This sounds to be that you are playing a file with to high 'ReFrames'. This will most likely not be changed with any firmware since it most likely is to much for our hardware to handle. If you use mediainfo on the files you get these 'artifacts/pink-purple-green' colours and check Format settings/ReFrames to see how much it's encoded to. Depending on the file itself when you go above ~'8' then it would try to buffer a bit to much.

Br,

Sorry Mikael

But it is a bug in the current SDK.

I had mkv's that gave me green and purple colors with r3582 and up.

Went back to r4318 and the mkv's play fine.

Hi Tifka,

Mikael could be right in this case.
I did try r4318, the specific mkv had the same issue with that release.
(alltough the amount of pink-purple-green pieces are more than r4318..)

I go with the explanation of Mikael. Didn't take the time to look at the info of that mkv.

I've got an update question : I am now running r3582 but I made some minor changes in the BT and Samba scripts/configs and installing OoD's alternative skin.

If I want a clean r4824 install, do I have to do the safe mode install or will the menu update also overwrite the changes I made ??

however, it seems that my ISP is blocking the BT default port 6881.
was wondering if the guide here to change the port number will work in this version ?
http://www.shadowandy.net/2009/09/bitto ... ayonhd.htm

Probably not ... the script that is changed in ShadowAndy's HOWTO is on a read-only file-system in the new firmwares.
Read the thread on the HOWTO forum for some workarounds ...

Hey,

I would say 'safe-method' is safer in this case.

It seems like it's read only now. Not sure why that is changed. I will have to check that.

SAD!

Hello,

In some cases the extension don't install correctly. Try using the 'Safe-Mode method' with the same firmware to hopefully get your player working properly.

Safe-Mode method:

* 1. Download and extract the .zip file into the root folder of a USB-stick. Make sure the USB-stick is formatted to FAT32.
* 2. Insert the USB-stick to your player.
* 3. Shutdown the player and remove the power cord from the back.
* 4. Hold down the power button in front of the player, and insert the power cord in the back.
* 5. Keep holding down the power button, and when you see the A.C Ryan logo on your TV, count to 10 seconds and release the power button.
* 5. Your player will restart and install the new firmware.

the unit restarted the very second i tried to add a torrent to it....
i attached the file. I'm sure you did a lot of improvements on the torrent so i sent this one to see another possible error.

no real improvements on the web browser. the remote is too big to fit on a cellphone screen.. and the buttons too small to be used on a tablet. (practically, still useless)

Please add a control to the web browser like play now or something like that so we can actually control the unit without a screen because that's the reason the https should be there. i thnik.

The onscreen browser list mode is PERFECT! good job on that guys!

Hello,

For your BT issues -> Only way to know for sure if you check your hard drive connected to your PC for errors, and then re-flash your firmware with 'Safe Mode method'.

Web management - We wanted to release this firmware mainly for the issues found in the changelog since they were critical issues -> BT/W7 etc. You will see the rest in our SDK4.0-Playon!GUI2.0 that is our main focus right now! You will see improvement to the web management and other things with our next firmware based on SDK4.0! Stay tuned :)

Hello,

Can you give me a mediainfo extract of a file that gives you these artifacts? You can download it from here -> http://mediainfo.sourceforge.net/en/Download

Then run the file you have problems with -> Go to File>Export>Text> Select advanced mode and save a .txt file and send it to me in PM!
