Post Re: BTPD keeps crashing... and a few questions
I emailed techsupport and they adviced me to downgrade to fw4318 which i did.
bittorrent files that were previously crashing with fw 3582, 4090, 4368 worked okay when I tried to download two torrent at a time. When I tried 3 at a time, BT sometime stopped working.

I was able to finished downloading 6 torrents, which previously crashes on newer fw, so i doubt if there is a malicious code in it.

edit / update

BT is also crashing in fw4318, especially when changing settings via web (e.g. max download)

My BTPD also stopped working since last week. Worked perfectly for almost one year until now! I'm still using firmware v7.06.r2388...

Seems to by time related bug indeed

If it's really time/date related I wonder if setting the date back will help?

Depending on which firmware you use there are some solutions here : [HOW TO] Change the BitTorrent default port number
Like settting "--max-peers" to 35 ...

I'm getting really annoyed that this problem isn't taken seriously (like everyone else I guess).

Don't know if any of this will help anyone, but all info can be worth something, right.

I don't buy that there's a problem with the torrent files. That would be much too big of a coincident.
What I've seen is that my date/time has been changed to 1/1 2010 now and then, and that perhaps could be worth investigating.

I tried to reduce the number of torrent files being downloaded simultaneously, to 1, and that seemed to keep the btpd alive for a few more minutes.

Changed my date now (using Internet time) and tried to shut if off using the remote, on/off button on the front, but it kept the date. Will se tomorrow morning, if it had change back to 1/1 2010.

I´m sure is a corrupt torrent, i have located the one wich broke my player. I went to a friends house who has a woxter 750 working, i put that torrent on it, and..... Voila! Broken. I called my brother who has another one and i told him to download that one and, voila! broken.
Is not one torrent, there are many over tehe network, and those people who are here with this problem is the people who has reached one of those torrents.
There are much more people on the world with their machines working, not only ac ryan.
The question is, What does that file in the system, what does it change? The btpd? The management of the memory....Dont know

If you have a Playon!HD, that's "normal". My POHD loses track of time after a reset. ACRyan didn't even bother to put a clock-battery on the board ... only the DVR has one.

This story about malicious torrents seems to be very unlikely. A torrent file is just a description of a location of one or more files. A torrent itself does not contain executable code. It can only harm your computer if it uses a security flaw in your download client. Torrents corrupting your memory sounds more like a monkey's sandwich story.

That's exactly the point ... just like a virus can be transferred in a picture (jpeg).
I'm not saying the whole story is true, but technically it could be.
