Post Network connectivity over UTP
When I first purchased my PV73100 a little while ago, which was running r3582, I was successful in enabling the network settings between my computer and the POHD. They could see each other no problem. I have now gone to firmware r4318 due to the fact that I was getting no sound from .avi's running r3582. Now with r4318 sound is not an issue but in the settings, whenever I try to enable "Bitorrent and SAMBA" it stays "off". I highlight "on" but it does not take. Neither my pc can see the POHD nor vice-versa. I've double checked the settings on the pc to make sure they are correct, i.e. guest account turned on, enabled NetBIOS over tcp/ip and setup shared folders on the pc. On the network setting of the POHD I entered the IP, Subnet Mask, default gateway and DNS server IP which were identical to when it was running r3582.

Any ideas on why the SAMBA setting stays off and what am I missing here?

reinstall r4318 again,
might be some did not go right the first time,
sometimes reinstalling the firmware again solves some of these issues.

Well I re-installed r4318 with no success. Still cannot set SAMBA on. This time when I updated the firmware I did a "Safe mode reflash". The reason being I had put the thumb drive into the POHD and then turned it on. The splash screen came on and then I got a "unrecognized signal" on the tv. After doing the safe mode reflash everything is back to normal except the SAMBA.

you may want to try the internet radio or other internet content to check if you have internet connection. Like many of other users, I experience problem in BT and NAS even with proper internet connection

@angusW,
is there a internal hdd in the playonhd?
if not then that is the reason it does not enable.

it needs an internal Hdd which is formated in the player by the setup menu of the player.

@bensy - Tried the radio for the first time and it downloads the stations and plays them. Thanks

@Dirk - Mine does indeed have an internal hdd that was formatted by the player. Like I wrote in my first post, I had network connectivity but once I changed firmware it stopped working.

Are other people having the same problem of not being able to enable SAMBA with r4318? Is there anyway around this?

same problem here... i'm a noob to this, but my samba stays off as well.
it worked perfectly for a couple of months, untill the upgrade.
system info tells me i'm running r3120 now
i've noticed that when i try to upgrade the extension package, the samba file "fails"

help anyone?

could be but i did not heard of it,
most users keep using the r4318 for its more reliable stability,
so i don`t know what the problem is,
did you try to upgrade the extensions from within the setup menu
if that option is available in r4318?
there is no need to download these extensions as they are in the firmware already
they then just get reloaded so no need for an usb stick here ;)

but i am not sure that in r4318 the option under:setupmenu>>>system>>>systemupgrade
still also has the upgrade package in it,
it was removed in a firmware but i thought it was in r3582 which is newer then the r4318,

please look for this and if the option is not there i do have a howto to
regain your extensions but then you first need to go back to a earlier firmware,
and it is a bit of work as well.

plus i do not know if it still works with the newer FW`s,
but we could try it out if you want ,
but first check the setupmenu if that option is still in the r4318.

;)

Thank you Dirk. Systemupgrade is available in r4318. I did not install it before. I installed it now and it was successful. I am now able to access the folders of the POHD from the pc and vice versa.
