Hello,

I would take the player back to your re-seller and get a new one. Sounds to me that you have done more than enough to 'get out' of the situation by re-flashing to several different newer and older firmware without success.

Br,

ok, done that today, got a new one with 3582 installed, and works fine for the first tests i've done, I'll wait for a official firmware release before I update again ;-)

thanks,
WIl

Use The Unarchiver to unpack the zip file on the Mac and you'll get the .img file that you can copy to the usb stick and install. The Unarchiver is free and you can get it here:

http://download.cnet.com/The-Unarchiver/3000-2250_4-10655313.html

I have a Intel Mac and use it without any problems.
Good luck.

Please don't think that I attack your willingness to help. But it reduces the need for A.C. Ryan to deliver a correct zip.

I appreciate that you are trying to help the mac users on this forum, but you offer them a work around based on the fact that A.C.Ryan delivers a "non Mac standard" zip and even an illegal zip based on GPL legal rules. Your workaround is a handy one for the time being.
However, with a little more attention in the release process from A.C.Ryan, A.C.Ryan could deliver a better zip. One that works automatically on the mac without the need to install extra tools AND with a decent readme file describing what you need to do.
A.C. Ryan might say that it is a beta and to be used only by experienced users who know what to do.
But, as I mentioned before: As the firmware uses GPL coded stuff they are obliged to also include the GPL LICENSE or GPL COPYING file (please note that I don't scream. These files need to be written in uppercase characters).
Which means that the zip file would at least contain the install.img and either (or better: both) the LICENSE or COPYING file. Having a zip with multiple files inside automatically solves the problem on Mac without further tools to be installed.

("A small step for A.C. Ryan. A giant leap for MACkind": Neil Armstrong, loosely quoted).

I totally agree with you. No problem here. I'd be delighted to find Mac friendly firmware and not to need to use additional tools.

New bugs found:

- Internetradio: Searched for a radio station name and selected it. Then went to "Genre" and just could find in any category the results from he previous search. But download is always successful. Just reboot help.

- Internetradio: Adding a Favorite is not possible.

- After selecting a radio station and go back to menu it's not possible to see which radio station is playing at the moment.

- Just a hint: Shoutcast is not really good. Just US radio stations less/no European or German ones. No good selection for an international product.

- Browser: Network share access to folders on Windows XP and Windows 7 with "all" or "guest" account access without password does not work "Access denied"

- Browser Mode Preview: Photo: When access a network share navigation through folders is too slow, because preview is always tried to generate.

- Browser: Photo: Shown Thumbnails are often just gray or colored lines, not the picture itself.

- Browser Mode List: Yeah, that great! Useability not just multimedia style.

Sorry, at the moment I really think about selling the Box and buying a Mini-PC for TV to be more flexibel. The Box is still a development project no product to sell.

Hi Mikael!
I got the totally same error like wilvanwil after i performed an upgrade from v7.3.6.r4090 to the new v7.3.6.r4415 firmware. I think it is not a hardware issue as my mini works fine if i downgrade it to the v7.0.21.r3615 firmware but ONLY with that one! It is not even working with the v7.3.6.r4090 firmware which i have used for several weeks before the upgrade! I ordered my mini from a webshop and it takes about 2 weeks to get a new one if i send it back to them. So, what can i do now? Have you got any other idea about how to get my mini back alive with the new firmware?

Hi mumble mumble
What is the difference between new and old version of the chipset and how to check wahat version is installed in the player?

hello!

*for moderators:
i suggest to update the second post, used for bugs-tracklist, with the ones found along the topic.

*for our users:
In order of the "unknown hardware error": does your player has the new or the old realtek chipset? may be possible this error has to deal with the version of the chipset?

Compared to the latest SDK 2.x firmware r4107 I've used before:

 • Ugly GUI (strange colors, when selecting a button sometimes the font ist not readable etc.)
 • SPDIF Passthrough ist not working, so I have to set it to 2CH mode (tried with MP4 (h.264) files)
 • List-Mode is a improvement but it looks all so ugly (GUI of SDK 2.x firmware was not very stylish but the GUI/Design of the new SDK 3.x is so early/mid 90s)
 • Sorry guys but I hope you can manage it to give the firmware of the Playon!HD Mini a lift from year 1992 to 2010. Currently it makes no fun to deal with this device.

Just upgraded and found a couple of issues:

Instant replay goes backwards (as it should do), but the CM skip button gores backwards too - a few seconds or more.

The cursor keys show that I can move to a particular time, but it doesn't actually go there. Can't work out exactly where it goes, but it's always backwards from the time I want to go to.
