Post Re: [BETA - SDK3.X] PV73200 v7.3.X.r4415 POHD MINI
Additional bug:

- Pin Protection: Pin 0000 is set after firmware update (Copy is not possible without Pin entry) -> please disable
Pin Protection by default

- Wrong German: "Mediatheek" is wrong. In german it needs to be written "Mediathek", not two e's.

- It's not possible to play a MP3-folder incl. all subfolders via Browser incl. Shuffle/Radom (by play click on top
level folder) anymore -> Can not play folder message appears. That's really a missing feature for a media
station. It's not usable for a party to play all MP3s in all folders for example.

- After switch off and switch on the menue is gray. Detached all USB devices and made a reboot. Still gray. Look into Settings: No PAL mode anymore chooseable, just NTSC is used anymore. Need to do a reinstallation of v4415. Hopefully it will be gone. I will give you a feedback: Reinstallation helped. Hopefully it will help longer than 1 day ;)

I got "Incomplete Bootloader" or something trying to flash to 4415 (from 4312)

So I reflashed back to 4312.

Why does my POHD Mini complain about the bootloader?

It doesn't do anything with this firmware. If I try to install r3582 it does, but r4415 does nothing?
In de menu the option to update only displays an error sign left upper corner.

Does it have to be an install.img file? After unzip I get a install map...

Edit: Ok, I didn't notice in the hour and a half dealing with it, but it seems my Mac automaticly unpacks the .img file and I get a map, the 3582 .img file does not do this. :x

Br,

which means first install the r3582 by the setup menu,
after this is done install the r4415 also through the setup menu again.

now it should work.

;)

Yes, that's true. On the mac I open a terminal and unzip the FW download by hand.

The Mac software is so userfriendly that it automatically opens the internal compressed file (.zip, .tgz, .tar.gz, .bz) for you if the parent zip only contains one other compressed file, and "we all" know that the img is nothing more than a gzipped tar file. So it's only one compressed .tgz in a .zip.
Even though the Macs behavior is very intelligent and userfriendly, it's unwanted in this situation.

So: the FW r3582 contains the install.img, a Readme.txt and an "Importantant note", whereas the r4415 (and other betas) only contain the install.img.

Please ACryan, create your firmware zips in such a way that it contains more than only the .img. Make sure it contains at least one other file like a Readme.txt (and a LICENSE file according to the rules of GPL). It will also save you a lot of questions on how to flash the several FW versions if that's in the Readme.txt, and it will save questions about the unpacking from mac users. After all the work you do to deliver a new firmware version this step is only another 10 minutes.
I know that most users often skip a Readme file (I do) but in case I have to flash a piece of hardware I ALWAYS read the readme and I think most users will do.

I almost tend to call this a bug in the release and change management of ACRyan as ACRyan does not pay attention to how the mac software works.

OK, so here it is the promised post about pros and cons of a new firmware.

PROS:
- mkv is working (great news! Key point and the only reason I keep this firmware)
- new graphics (I used 4312 by now, so I had not see this one before)
- mp3 info moved to top, so it doesn't cover the list of folders

CRITICAL ERROR:
- audio. It has been called few times here and I add another vote. It is very bad what happened to audio. It now plays audio through HDMI and optical at the same time (even if I try to trick it by setting Passthrough on HDMI - my TV does not have any sound decoders). Or plays audio through HDMI only (if it's stereo), whereas I am only interested in sound from my amplituner (connected with PlayON through optical).

Generally multimedia streamer should do two things correctly: play video and play audio. Video has been fixed now and plays great, but audio became a problem. I hope this can be fixed soon.

CONS:
- longer time to launch any file. It is subjective, I didn't do any measurements, but I feel, it took less time to launch video or audio in previous firmware
- Polish language naming still not fixed. I wrote about it few times, I even sent PM to junwei, but in this firmware Subtitles are again called "Podtytuly" (in show/hide subtitles section in cofiguration menu). Trust me on this one: it should say "Napisy". Also there are some new options introduced in the menu, and they are not translated into Polish. Not that it is a big deal, but since everything else is translated, so should this be.

In cons, only minor bugs. If I remember of anything else, I will write. Please fix the sound, because it's really bad now.
Other than that, I feel, the firmware is going into very good direction. Keep up the good work and don't mess with sound again! :)

Jukebox not working with NAS drive. This is with Yamj 2.2, havn't tried 2.1, but index file turns up empty. Jukebox folder generated as normal.

MKV files works wonderfully, so that positive :D
But please please please fix the awful gui

Hello,

For YAMJ.

Please uninstall your previous YAMJ from your PC. Remove the /Jukebox folder and your index.html file.

Install this version to your PC -> http://www.acryan.com/downloads/YAMJ_Installer1.0.2.zip and follow this 'step by step' guide -> http://www.acryan.com/downloads/YAMJ_Installer1.0.2.zip

If you still have issues with YAMJ+NAS, and you are using r. 4415 please let me know.

Wow, that's fast reply :D
I'll try that when I'll get back home, but I think you've linked the step-by-step guide wrong :grinning:
