Well, if your POHD has a fixed IP-address, you can forward port 21 and 22 on your router to the IP-address of your POHD. If you leave it on, you should be able to connect (using the WAN IP-address of your router) to the FTP-server at home from the Internet.
This works for my NAS, but haven't yet managed to get it working on my POHD

I want to buy an Playoh HD media player

I am really confused with this Play On HD media player... bcos if i see firmware release section i could see many people are posting basic functionality it self breaking (not working )

my need is very simple

1. playing mp3 files continuosult from External HDD
2. playing VOB , MKV files avi, divx,mp4 files from External HDD

Could you please guys pls tell me whether play on HD will play these things without any problem continuously ? I cud see even mp3's had probs which is kind of skipping probs

I thought of buying it , but put on hold after reading firware release section

Pls pls comment truth.. as i plan to buy it in another 1 or 2 days

you should buy it if you want i'm a happy customer, but hold in mind not to install the latest firmware 'cause that even fails on the simplest things try Official Firmware Version v7.06.r2901 untill the ac ryan team brings a new good working official

My recommendation is to just buy and use firmware v7.06.r3875.
This firmware works very well for your (and my) needs.

Secondly do not jump on the new firmware (i.e. the versions based on the new development kit SDK 3.x) and be patient until it has stabilized. This will keep you happy.
That will take some time, but there is no need for you to use that new firmware

I downloaded this version 3582 FW.. Guys pls suggest me that this FW

is that will audio (ac3 and aac, flac,mp3) play files continuously without any hangs (from WD external HDD)
Video files (AVi,divx,vob,mkv,m2ts files) from my external HDD disc without any probs ?

Then i will update this otherwise i won't do this

i bought (PV73100+) MODEL yesterday .. pls pls suggest any FW which works stable on this hardware
