Correct me if I'm wrong but most Stand Alone Players such DVD players and Blu-ray players have both HDMI and SPDIF active at the same time. So Realtek is finally following typical conventional practise. And i hope it stays this way. It easier to lower the volume of tv to zero then to goto settings in playon to change output from HDMI to SPDIF and back everytime.

To stay on topic.

Both are old bugs that are probably low on the priority list but worth a mwntion.
1) If subtitles are set to on in settings, subtitles will appear for avi, mkv but not dvd(video_ts). Still have to manually turn on.

2) The resume function will give out of sync audio and video if ok is pressed before the movie plays a little from the beginning.

Anyway, I found a 'bug' in this firmware. Not really a bug but a missing feature.

Both HDMI and SPDIF are active. Now I have a sort of echo, because sound is going through my tv and surround set. Can there be an implementation that you can switch one of both off?

What do you mean by echo? Can't you just mute your TV? Because I believe this is how most AV stuff works anyway, It should send off audio signals to all outputs -- RCA, HDMI, and optical outs -- at the same time.

Something that is a bit weird is, when I set SPDIF output to passthrough, MP3 didn't seems to output LPCM digital audio. FLACs are fine, my DacMagic can process the digital output.

Other thing I found awkward on PlayonHD hardware are -- LED on the remote control, flashing PlayonHD led during remote button press, and.. AA battery for the remote! C'mon guys, I'm not debugging the remote control! Did you guys even look at how other AV systems were built for comparison?

Anyway, as a music player through SAMBA on a home NAS, I would say this firmware rocks! The only thing a bit annoying is the 5 seconds pause before starting audio files. And I believe there haven't been any good concept on playlist feature?

Is it a bug??

Yesterdayevening I copied a lot of files from my PC to the PLayon, wireless.
The % counter begins and also really fast. About 1 % per 5 seconds.
After 1 hour I take a look how far the copy was and I was surprised. The counter was over the 400%.
The copy process wasn't finished. 38 of the 57 files were copied.

This morning everything was succesfull copied.

I don't know if this also happens with the earlier FW.

IF you have to wait several HOURS to copy some files, isn't it much easier just to use USB from POHD -> PC?

In optimum settings i get a wifi speed of 2,4 /2,5 MB/s but when i want to put some files on my POHD i just use the USB cable, 35/40MB/s

Well, on my PS3 there is an option to turn it off. It's just that every time I switch to AC ryan I have to turn down the volume of the TV, back to sattelite signal turn it on again. I find that quite annoying. Just an extra option to turn one of both isn't that hard to implement I guess.....

Hello AcRyan Staff,

I have been really happy so far with my POHD though, I have been really choosy about installing the correct firmware as lot of them may still be buggy (obviously they are in beta versions and I don't expect it to be 100% bug free).

I must admit, I am really happy with the PV73100 r4318 firmware. So, now it interests me to request for a feature which I so badly need in the upcoming firmwares. The feature is simple from the functional PoV and achievable for you guys.

Often, I have to zoom in to "fit to screen" for every movie that I have play. Can this setting be made permanent once set like many other features in the firmware.

Many thanks in advance.

Yash

Good wireless speeds. What kind of equipment are you using? Optimal settings, what are they? You have BT running (even if it's limited at 100kb/sec maybe*).

*not much, but enougn to pump through m720/720P material for the next day or the same evening if you start early and... it won't (should not) disturb the stability of the bandwidth that remains for streaming/up or downloading.

with this firmware I have no audio via HDMI. Is this a known issue? With all the previous firmware releases the audio over HDMI was ok.
