Post GPL
Here's the link to the present (& only) GPL release:
http://www.acryan.com/downloads/RTD1073_GPL.zip

Technically each firmware release is supposed to be accompanied by a fresh release of the GPL source code, along with modifications to said code to make it work with the device.

As you're now drawing on the realtek sdk 3, things are bound to have changed.

For example the /lib/modules/2.6.12.6-VENUS/source symlink on the ACR-PV73100/Firmware_PV73100_v7.06.r1402 firmware shows:
/tftpboot/ReleaseDir/LINUX/build_linux_mars/src/linux-2.6.12

whereas the latest beta (Firmware_PV73100_v7.3.4.r4090_European) /lib/modules/2.6.12.6-VENUS/source symlink shows:
/tftpboot/ReleaseDir/LINUX/build_linux_mars_V2/src/linux-2.6.12

Note the V2.

As these devices evolve and the underlying source code gets modified from release to release, it's important to meet the GPL requirements, again.

I appreciate hearing from ACRyan on this matter.

Any chance a moderator could answer this?

a moderator is a user like yourself ;)
so i guess the answer should come from acryan themselves.

and please remove the double posting, (or do you want me to merge this in that other topic?)
it is not allowed (even if you say it is not ment to be crossposting ;) )

will try to take this to acryan,
and see how they react,

;)

Hi Wigout,

I will have to check this out first before I could comment on anything especially GPL related issues.

Will get back on this.

Post Re: GPL
According to the development team, the latest SDK from Realtek in our latest firmware does not have any modifications to the open source codes used in accordance to GNU/GPL terms.

Everything that we have used/referenced from remains the same as those currently downloadable from our website.

Hope this clarifies.

J.

Post Re: GPL
Strange.

I have to imagine that the modifications made to the squashfs implementation, which merited a boot code update- a task that potentially can brick devices- probably involved some source code manipulation.

And as for the rest, I suppose if one were to go through and run the md5sum of all your compiled open source binaries, busybox and all, they'd all be identical? Because if the source code was the same, that'd be the case.

I haven't had a chance to look at that very carefully at that, I admit.

For example. And busybox is friendly but serious about enforcing GPL:

Our development team have checked with Realtek - there isn't any changes between the old and new SDK for the open source codes used by them.
