Check the power supply, I suggest to remove the hard drive first and try powering on it.

Then if it is okay. Try to re-flash the firmware. If totally no power, check if the LAN port LED is blinking or permanently on.?

Let me know..

I'm at the show so I can't be checking post most of the time, but I try my best to check forum every 3 hours.

Rgds,

J.

This has me a bit worried, My Playon DVR HD is sittng back in its boxed, as I have only used it so far installing HDD and adding YAMJ and updated to the latest firmware. So It has only been switched on for a bout 13 hrs total.

Do you recommend I flash back to the original firmware in case this new firmware kills the Playon

Cheers

Power Supply no problem.

Hard Drive already removed but still the same.

Totally cannot re-flashed the firmware, even with the safe-mode flashing procedure.

LAN port LED, I will check later.

power supply changed.... blue light doesn't come on when power button is pressed, instead red circle keeps flashing as long as power on button is pressed.

can't even get into loading menu.

LAN port flash a few times and stop after tt. when take a sniff in the inside of the unit, tot that i might have smelt a burnt smell.

can i bring my unit down to the fair for RMA?

Hi,

Just to let you guys know. My player works already.

This is what I do.
Switch on the player. Even without any blue circle. Don't do anything with it. Let it be for the whole day. The blue circle came out the next day and the player works like normal.

I hope it won't died again.

This is what I have done before the player died.
Update to the latest firmware Version: v8.3.2.r3582 using safe-mode.
Run bittorrent using http server (download a 6GB file)
After 1 hour, the player just died.

I hope you guys can let me know what I have done wrong, so it won't happen again.

I just wonder those whose playon that just red circle and cannot change to blue circle even the power button is pressed, is there anything heavy stay on top of the playon, or is your finger has accidently pressed the top cover of playon. I ve this experience before, and I ve feeling that a contact metal has touched the cover inside and caused short circuit.

I wonder AC Ryan has put any insulator between printed circuit board and the metal cover, since the cover cud be bend easily if pressed? :grinning:

My unit started to have problems for a while and tonight just died.
No blue light.

The LAN port slow blinks on both lights.

It will not re-flash.
