Post Re: [Official]POHD MINI PV73200 (SDK3.X) r3582
Thank you dawoofa for trying to help me (I really appreciate it.), but I need to step away from this thing for at least the weekend, but probably forever.

I have read through the forums, tried and tried, different USB sticks, flashing several times, prayer, different cables, etc. (Like I said, this brings back memories of my days trying to fix windows computers!) My symptoms are similar to other customers that never got theirs working again... they ended up returning the unit. All I used this machine for was to watch VIDEO_TS files on my hard drive. I was waiting for HFS+ support so I could just leave the files in .iso format (My PlayOn drive is FAT32). I really don't expect much, and this thing still disappointed me.

I have two technical degrees and I consider myself a fairly thorough and methodical person, but I am learning when to say when and throw in the towel.

Tonight we will watch a DVD (on the DVD player) and the world will keep turning.

To all of those that haven't updated yet and are thinking about it, you might want to wait a bit. Just my opinion!

how come that this release is only 54MB unpacked and the previous firmware was over the 100MB?

is there missing something or what?

Oh and after a night sleep, and being stubborn, i tried to install this firmware once again, where it went deadly wrong last night, just yet tried again, a cold install, without the system update while the box was booted, and it installed perfectly in one try whereas last night it kept on fucking up

I tried to install the new firmware 3 times, and all times it ends up with a constantly restarting POHD Mini!!!
I used the recommended method via the System menu.

Safe install option does NOT work on the new firmware, I held the button more then 3 minutes but outside the Playon logo on my TV screen nothing happened, even after releasing the button the unit is jammed.

Safe install to older firmware DOES work (takes about a minute to react), so now I am back on the latest beta.

Second a question to Junwei or Kraakie, why is the HTTP and FTP option not listed in the Mini firmware features list? Web access is just as valuable for the mini as for the normal POHD

Finally I got it working. First had to go back to 4312 and use a different USB stick, then this release on the stick and via the Safe-install it worked. The recommended setup didn't work at all, every time a rebooting POHD.
Now lets see if this is an improvement for my situation........

Anyone on the second question?

i think it is because that would require a place to store it, and to my knowledge the mini only has external storage option

I think there are only 4 really important usecases:
Usecase 1: Play a movie. (80% of the time)
One-click access to the default movieshare (including folderlevel, such as \\server\share\movies\) in ThumbGen/YAMJ style, select movie, hit the play button and the movie plays over the audio output specific for movies, with the default subtitle language and audio format if available. (For example dutch subs and Dolby Digital).
Usecase 2: Listen to music (12% of the time)
One-click access to the default musicshare (including folderlevel, such as \\server\share\music\) in a similar style with album art, select album, hit the play button and the music plays over the default selected output (for example SPDIF instead of HDMI).
Usecase 3: View photos (4% of the time)
One-click access to the default photoshare (including folderlevel, such as \\server\share\photos\) in a similar style with an album preview, select the photoalbum, hit the play button to start a slideshow.
Usecase 4: Listen to internetradio (4% of the time)
One-click access to the default internetradio station, hit the play button to start listening over the default selected output (for example SPDIF instead of HDMI)..

This.

At the moment there are far too many button presses to access the most used features.

You have to fix the seeking through a mkv with the arrow buttons!

The big plus point of this firmware is it seems to play high bitrate movies a lot better than previously.

Loads of bugs with this latest firmware......from little things like when you press info.....the audio and video info is not correct, crashes and freezing on JAMJ.....also preview of video files is sooooo sluggish....i would rather just see the jpeg pics.

I think this firmware is very very poor and not thought out!

Please sort this out....the last beta is by far miles better than this official firmware and is what i have reverted back to.
