[FR] Forward & backward leaps when playing a movie/record/..
Hello,
I noticed that when you launch a previous recorded movie/program/etc. you only have the fast forward or backward buttons that help you to navigate to its actual starting point. On an other RT based product, I had a nice feature that permitted to have forward leaps of 30s and backward leaps of 10s by pushing right or left arrow, and on a modding forum we were even discussing of getting longer leaps on numerical buttons (since these can not be used otherwise during the play), for example +5minutes on button 6, etc.
Would it be possible to implement such leaps in a future firmware?
Many thanks, Matt

Good suggestion Matthelas. I had the same functionality on my Humax 9200-T PVR and its nice to have the ability to do a quick 30 skip forward or a 10 second replay.

Does it not resume video from the point that was before?

agreed, this function is great for skipping through ads in chunks and also replaying to hear the last line that the main star of a movie said before the wife walked in and starting moaning about how you just sit there watching movies all day!

Yes 30 second jumps back and forward would be nice. As would the remaining time of a movie when you press pause

I don't remember what is diplayed with the Pause button. thatcharlie wrote: agreed, this function is great for skipping through ads in chunks and also replaying to hear the last line that the main star of a movie said before the wife walked in and starting moaning about how you just sit there watching movies all day! Yeah. I did not dare taking an example but yours is worthy

Info shows that yes, but why not also pause to show info bar? Seek bar would be great with 30 sec and 3 minutes jumps back and forth. All the other players I used (Xtreamer, XBMC) seems to have this feature, I really miss it here.

Re: [FR] Forward & backward leaps when playing a movie/record/..
That type of features can be developped (and was developped on other RT based tool) by parsing DvdPlayer output and sending command to it depending on remote keypresses that appeared in that log (this needs unfortunately some coding I am not able to do).
I'd think that AC Ryan, with the GrandMa DvdPlayer sources, could easily do that without needing such tricks. Otherwise, if there is some developer here who knows how to compile for this architecture (keywords: cross compilation, chroot, etc.) I can send him some links about similar features implemented on other box.
I don't really know if that's the sort of initiative that is tolerated on this forum, and in case it is not, please accept my apologies (and feel free to delete that post).
Cheers, Matt
Edit: hum, in fact on the other box I am thinking to, the verbosity (specifically when reading a record) is not enough to get hit keys ... so this is a first point to check ... i'll try doing it this we
