probably this has been asked before but I can't find it.

can i backup recorded TV to my PC on XP? I connect the console to my tv but I don't see the partition for the recorded tv programs (probably some other format)

so is that a way to work around this?

The recording partition uses a UDF file system which is not recognizable by your PC. That is why you cannot see your recordings when you hook up the set to a PC. OK, for you to backup any recorded programs in the disk, you need to do one more step and that is transferring the recorded program from the UDF partition to the FAT32 partition of the HDD. You can do this by going to playback of the main browser and select the program you wanted to backup. Then go to Title Edit using the right/left browser button of the remote control, click enter and choose 'copy to FAT32' then enter. Please be advice that copying/transferring of recorded program may take time to complete, depending on how big the file is.

got a question here on backup to fat32

i split the original title to 2 files and copied them to the fat32 partition, let's say A and B.

then i copied them to my pc but the 2nd part (B) got no audio when play back from the PC. playback on the device was fine - there is audio for both files, A and B.

what's wrong?

Both must have sounds. There are no changes in the video and sound quality when you split it up into two or so. You can try to merge this two videos again and split it up.

Hi Roger, as you guys are discussing about split and merge the .TS file, I have been searching for a software to do the editing for all of my TV recordings, to delete the advertisements and merge some of the TV shows due to recording splited.
I just want to do delete and merge file only.
Would you tell me what is the software that you used and approximately how much does it cost?

From its extension, looks like it's and MPEG-2 TS (Transport Stream, by opposition to Program Stream) file... (that is coherent with other RT based box)
To edit your .TS, you can consider tools like tsmuxer, tssniper, etc. Depending on the codec used (MPEG-4 vs MPEG-2), some will be more or less adapted. I'd think this is rather well documented on the web (or perhaps even here in the ac ryan forums, dunno, did not search very deeply).
