Post Can't get Yamj getting to work
Hello,

I've problems with installing Yamj on my playonHD. I used the auto installer. I've i start my playonHD, I dont see a link to start the Yamj. I only see the normal things as: "Browse", "Mediatheek", "Feed" etc.

How do I start the Yamj?

What have i done so far:
After I've installed the software on my PC, I went to the installation map. I coppied moviejukebox.properties from the "properties" to the root of the Yamj folder.

I'd put the next line into the (almost empty) file: mjb.PlayOnHD=true

Now i'd start the programm. It asked for a Location of your video directory. I chose P:\movie\ (internal HD of the playon through the network).

After pressing the OK button I pressed the Run/Update button. A shell opens and I see a lot of information. Finaly it says "Finished"

When I look on my playonHD internal HD, I see a jukebox map in the movie dir. a lot of images, html and xml files of my movies.

But how do i statup the jukebox to see the GUI?

Thanx for you help!

Hi speedyx,

What is the firmware you're running on your Playon!, you might need to flash the firmware in order to get the YAMJ module (Movie Jukebox on your Main Menu).

Cheers,
J.

Hi,

Thank you for your answer.

I've got the latest official firmware: V7.06 r3875

Where do you see the jukebox normaly? Do you have to see it in the bootup menu, when you start up the player ? (between the browser, media libary, internet feeds etc?)

In the main menu, its the 3rd option from the left, ie press right twice then press enter. Then choose HDD, INTERNAL(HDD) <u will have to wait awhile here>, and finally select the index you created. If you have just created/updated the index then you should choose "yes". U will hv to wait longer here :) The more videos you have the longer the wait.

Hi, I'm having the same problem. I've just purchased the ACR-PV73100P+ and installed the latest firmware. Under System Info it reports "Software:v7.0.6 r3875"

However, my home screen looks nothing like the YAMJ manual. The only options I have at the bottom are as follows:

Browser <-> Media Library <-> Feeds <-> Torrents <-> Radio <-> File Copy <-> Setup

I don't have the Movie Jukebox option shown in the manual.

The only thing that I can think of that might be unusual is I haven't installed an internal 3.5" drive yet. I've successfully run YAMJ on an external drive which I've plugged into the POHD.

Any idea why I'm not getting the Movie Jukebox?

My apologies for not noticing that you were using r3875 which i believe does not have YAMJ. To try YAMJ you need to install one of the beta firmwares. I am currently using r4107. But a word of caution, there are users who complain abt BT/Samba instability using YAMJ beta firmwares. But if you dont use BT like me then no problem. r4107 does show a message saying something like disable BT whenever i play mkv files. I did not remember seeing this in r3643. But YAMJ has made progress between r4107 and r3643. Some features added and bugs fixed too. Unfortunately some old previously solved bugs have resurfaced, including some new ones too. Its up to you whether you want to try using it or not :) But i'm ok with it. Just waiting for it to be further polished in terms of speed and ease of use.

i believe r3875 does not have YAMJ. To try YAMJ you need to install one of the beta firmwares. Pls read my earlier post for my views/observations abt using YAMJ beta firmwares.

Don, Thank you for your answer. Now i understand why yamj doesn't work with my firmware.

Because Yamj installer is now available to download on the support page of http://www.playonhd.com and the're is a news item on the main page of the site about it. I thought it was an official release.

On tip for the adminitstators of the site:
Maybe it's good to mention in the news item (and next to the download) that a custom (beta) firmware is still needed when using the Yamj installer.

I used the guide here "YAMJ 101: Things to make your life better. 1: How to change yamj settings and speed up yamj a little." to speed up the generating of the jukebox's data. Its about 3-4 times faster.

I personally use following parameters.
Code:
## Multi-thread processing parameters
# Only change these values if you know what you are doing.
# The number of scanning threads
mjb.MaxThreadsScan=8

# This parameter defines the number of processing threads, it defaults to the number of CPU cores
mjb.MaxThreadsProcess=4

Don,

Thanks for the great info! :D

I installed r4318 and it's a major improvement and YAMJ works!

Any ideas when the next stable release is though? I'm not so concerned about the loss of BT, but beta firmware makes me nervous...
