Re: What's your view on YAMJ?
Well according to me YAMJ is short for Yet Another Movie Jukebox which they are taking about. A clever piece of program running on your computer designed to search your harddisk for movies and find the relevant movie photos and information from the Internet, automatically. Started as a small project, it has grown to become a favorite Movie Jukebox program, with a strong reputation and a solid team. The YAMJ project is open source and more development is still going on.

Re: What's your view on YAMJ?
Well I loaded up YAMJ over the weekend and played around with it. On the whole, worked pretty well! Other than spending time on trying to get nfo files to work properly (finally managed with a bit of patience), everything went pretty much as advertised. But (of course there are buts) - Don't like the default skin, which is looks OK on the PC but is pretty clumsy on the AC Ryan, (maybe I am doing something wrong?) On the PC I see the category selection running down the left, the alphabetic index running on the top, and the movies below. So you can easily jump to groups of movies by categories. But on the AC Ryan, it's either categories or thumbs, not both. - Getting the jukebox going requires way too many keypresses. There should be a default setting so that when you press Jukebox you open your default Jukebox immediately. Really, I don't think my wife would ever be able to navigate to the Jukebox library file the way it is now. Though maybe that's not a bad thing? Oh well, early days yet. Looking forward to it getting better.

1. in the SETUP menu, select a default Jukebox file to always load everytime you select YAMJ from main menu.
2. Speed up load time of index.html. Takes too long to load at this point. I agree with mike on this. Please do something on this. In overall, good work, guys!

Re: What's your view on YAMJ?
I love the YAMJ interface!
So far I've only got it set up for my movie collection, but want to extend it to my TV series at some stage but worry there are just too many and it will make it cumbersome.
I suppose if I had a wish list it would be:
1) I'd like it to show 1 movie at a time, not 2 high, I'd like it bigger and easier to see. 2) I'd like it to just go straight into the Movie scrolling bit rather than have to set-up every time. 3) If I added TV Serials I'd like to 'Tier' the Movie scrolling, by that I mean for example my Star Trek stuff would have a top level screen then when selected would open a second 'menu' which might have Deep Space 9, ST NG, ST Ent, etc then open these again to get to seasons and again to get to episodes. <deep breath> 4) I'd like a button to order pizza and beer! (or popcorn and coke for the kids)
hehe

Re: What's your view on YAMJ?
YAMJ: I really liked it at first. The load time for a new index file is too long. The scrolling needs to be up/down instead of left/right. They really need to have a setting for a default index file to load with one button push from the main menu, too many steps to load the index file. I am using TVIXIE presently since I can use skins and the folder.jpg is created with TVIXIE for normal browsing. The movie wall still only moves left/right which is understandable as the TVIXIE program is using the YAMJ firmware. The index file loads much faster than YAMJ, very fast! There are no genres though.

Even if there are still things to be worked on like handling of multi-disks ISO, VOB, AVI, MKV movies (MP4 is working fine), the product is really nice and I really love it. Keep on the good work!
