Strange. I've got the same: Code: -rwxrwxr-x 1 root root 72960 May 21 2010 sftp-server and I can run it.

No. I get packages separately and installed them manually.

Re: [HOW TO] install optware and get transmission, twonky
Anyone tried upgrading to the latest firmware after installing optware on r2901?
I am worried that my existing movies will be gone as I don't have another hdd to backup my existing movies.

Re: [HOW TO] install optware and get transmission, twonky
I have sold my PlayonHD today to a friend because I was merely using it as a NAS lately. I bought the device to replace my XBOX which had xbmc on it. Finally I was able to play HD movies. When I had a bit more cash at hand I decided to buy a HTPC with an Intel Core i5. That one is now in full use ( iMDB / TVdb - scraping, subtitle download, 3D-interface) and it runs 3 vmware machines in the background (2 x Linux & Windows 2000).
I replaced my 1.5 TB PlayonHD with 2 2TB-harddisks... one internal and the other one external with E-Sata/USB.
The 'ryanopt' script is a spin-off of 2 other projects (1 for DD-WRT and the other for the WD Mybook). If there are issues, especially if something is broke, I will fix them. Just don't expect new developments.
Thanks for the ride.....

Re: [HOW TO] install optware and get transmission, twonky
my installation fails: Code: .... Optware is not installed... Let's install it
--21:53:47-- http://ipkg.nslu2-linux.org/feeds/optware/oleg/cross/stable/uclibc -opt_0.9.28-13_mipsel.ipk => `uclibc-opt_0.9.28-13_mipsel.ipk' Resolving ipkg.nslu2-linux.org... failed: Name or service not known. ipkg: uclibc-opt_0.9.28-13_mipsel.ipk: No such file or directory Nothing to be done An error ocurred, return value: 4. Collected errors: Cannot find package uclibc-opt_0.9.28-13_mipsel.ipk. What is going wrong ? EDIT: looks like a DNS problem, I added ipkg.nslu2-linux.org to the host table with the correct IP adress and installations is working now...

frater wrote: The possibilities are endless after you install optware on your machine. Most credit goes to the nslu2 team for making all these programs available to us. I've already done this before for 2 other devices (Western Digital Worldbook & DD-WRT). This is WiP (Work in Progress) and will probably need to tinker some little things, but if you know what you're doing you should be able to install programs yourself Besides the full linux tools I have prepared the startup for twonky & transmission but in reality the possibilities are endless Code: cd /tmp/hdd/root wget -O ryanopt http://wd.mirmana.com/ryanopt sh ryanopt TODO: - change the size of part3 which is now only 159 MB - find out how current services are stopped and hook in there to stop optware services - program keys for midnight commander - many other little things I'm sorry but I did not understand it (How to install optware and transmission). can you give me a detailed instructions please
