also just wondering how the java indexer is supposed to work as I'm running the indexing for the 3rd time now but something keeps happening so the process hasn't finished once yet. And if I then look at the generated Jukebox folder where my movies are, it's empty.

Aren't the jukebox files generated as each film is processed or are they only generated when it's completely finished?

I must also say we have 225 movies in our collection at the moment and growing. If the indexer has to run through all of them every time we add a new movie it's going to be a real drag as it takes forever it seems..

So other files are accessible, but the two directories with music and movies are not. This does not explain how the files dissappear, even after the device has been on for 5 minutes, Windows Explorer still does not show the AVI/MKV-files, but the jukebox can still play them.

The console window also did not report anything about a path not being found, so device accessible, moviesdirectories (one directorylevel/structure downwards) not.

I can only assume then, that there is an issue with permissions from the windows side in viewing those files?
It's not something that YAMJ can do anything about though.

If one adds a .nfo file in the directory, is it possible to manually enter the name of the movie in there? (woçuld be handy for foreign titles)
just the imdb.com link will return the titles as stated on imdb.com, most of the time, in it's original language (especially for asian movies)

Yes, NFO files can specify everything about a movie. Some people fill in all the details in those files, others just "fix" stuff that YAMJ gets wrong

They are held in memory until the process is completed and then written out to the target jukebox. (they are also written out to a temporary location, but this is cleared on program exit)

Where does the indexing stop? Sometimes it can be a memory issue, you can try increasing the memory that java is allowed to use (by default it's 512Mb) by editing the MovieJukebox.bat file and changing the value after "-Xmx512" to "-Xmx1024" and try running the jukebox again.

It will run through them all each time, but only to check for new files, deleted movies, etc.

Ah thanks. It was stopping about halfway every time but never exactly the same so I suspected as much and was adding them in batches. But changing the memory setting made it a lot easier so much thanks for that!

Do we need internet connected to the playon to see the movie info?

well the pc which runs the Yamj must have an internet connection to gain the needed info.

the pohd has to be connected to that pc when creating the jukebox and index.htm.

whether by network or by usb at that moment.

but for the last option be aware that to whatch movies,
it can not be connected to a pc by usb.

;)

Must there allways be a connection between the PC en the Playon? Or only when making the jukebox and updating?

I'm only using movies from the internal HDD. No streaming.

Hi Waaghal,

Your assumption is correct, you only have to connect your POHD with your PC when creating a new or updating your index. All the info collected from the internet is copied to the HDD from the POHD in the jukebox folder.
