Mine is 'Belkin Wi-Fi USB Adapter'.That works nicely. One of them was on an older Dell laptop, installed without any problems at all and connected seamlessly to a Linksys WRT54G router with WAP encryption.

Are you using that on your Playon!HD, or on a PC?

Hi guys and girls,

The ACRyan wireless dongle doesn't just use any Realtek driver. So if your dongle is Realtek based, it doesn't mean it works out of the box with de PlayonHD. The original dongle is to my knowledge a Realtek RTL8192S Wireless 802.11b/g/n USB 2.0 Network Adapter.

The same driver is also used by Realtek for the RTL8192SU, RTL8188SU, RTL8191SU and RTL8192GU Wireless Network Adapters. If these all work with the ACRyan PlayonHD is beyond my knowledge, but they probably do......

If you examen the inf-file of the original driver, the dongles here below should surely work:

"Corega CG-WLUSBNM"
"Corega CG-WLUSB300NM"
"D-Link DWA-130 Wireless N USB Adapter(rev.C2)"
"D-Link DWA-130 Wireless N USB Adapter"
"D-Link DWA-131 Wireless N Nano USB Adapter"
"EnGenius 802.11n Wireless USB Adapter"
"Belkin N Wireless USB Adapter"
"Belkin Basic Wireless USB Adapter"
"Belkin Connect Wireless USB Adapter"
"Hercules Wireless N Mini USB Key"
"Edimax 802.11n Wireless USB Adapter"
"Sitecom Wireless Nano USB Adapter 150N WL-353"
"Sitecom Wireless High-Gain USB Adapter 300N X2 WL-356"
"Sitecom 150N Wireless USB adapter WL-349v2"
"Sitecom 150N Wireless USB adapter WL-349v3"
"Sitecom 300N Wireless USB Adapter WL-352v2"
"Sitecom 300N Wireless USB Adapter WL-352v3"
"Hawking Hi-Gain USB Wireless-N Dish Adapter"
"Hawking Hi-Gain USB Wireless-G Dish Adapter"
"ASUS EZ N 802.11b/g/n Wireless USB Adapter"
"ASUS WL-167G V3"
"Amigo 802.11n Wireless USB Card"
"Zinwell 802.11b/g/n USB Wireless LAN Card"
"Sweex LW154 Wireless 150N Nano Adapter USB"
"Logitec LAN-W150N/U2 Wireless LAN Adapter"

Please note that for instance the "Corega CG WLUSBNM" is also sold as the "SABRENT USB A11N WIRELESS ADAPTER" and also as the "TRENDNET TEW 649UB WIRELESS".
The "Corega CG-WLUSB300NM" is also sold as the Asus USB-N10 and some more.

So as stated before, the above wireless dongles should surely work. But probably many, many more.........
as long as your wireless dongle uses the same driver as the Realtek RTL8192S and equivalents.

Just hope I could clear some things up !!

Hi guys,

I just purchased the D-Link DWA-130 (ver A1) but it's not working for me. Are there any steps I need to take in addition to plugging in the USB adapter to PHD (I didn't receive any notice that it recognize the device), and configuring from the Wireless menu?

My wireless router is up and running of course.

Thanks.

So does anyone have a WiFi USB adapter that is NOT giving them grief by disconnecting at random intervals when using 802.11n networking (150N or 300N)??? I am wondering whether the issues I (and many others) have are related to the adapter or to the POHD itself. I have the AC Ryan dongle.

Cheers,
Mat

You mean that with AC Ryan dongle you get disconnections every now and then ? if that is the case please check your router settings !!!

Reciful: you can't be serious... this forum is full of posts by people with the same issue... there has been no satisfactory solution, only some sort of damage control consensus, which is
- turn off N-networking (i.e. go back to 54mbps 802.11g networking)
- turn off WPS on the router
- turn off QoS on the router
etc.

I did all of the above and so I am stuck at 54mbps.

Maybe you have some more router settings that I should check for?

I don't care about WPS or QoS but I DO care about network throughput. Increasing the throughput between my PC and the POHD was my only reason to buy 300N hardware in the first place.

I was under the impression that this issue had been recognized and was on the list of things that the good folks at Realtek needed to fix. I hope they do soon.

Mat

After digging through the web, I've found this revelation on the DWA-130 adapter. Apparently this model comes in different versions and not all have the Realtek chipset. The model I purchased, DWA-130 A1, with the FCCID - KA2WA130A1 is made with Marvell chipset. :x

I know the picture is not correct. But the FCCID matches the one on the adpater.

Those who've purchased the DWA-130, please tell us the version of your device and the FCCID # so others won't buy the wrong adapter like I did.

And to the kind folks of A.C. Ryan, do you think you will expand the list of compatible wirless adapters in the next firmware? I'm not a Linux guy, but can you do that by creating or modifying the Ndiswrapper?

In the meantime, I will have to dust off that 15' cable. :(
