Re: Playon!DVR-HD : Tell us Dual DVBT Tuner or Analog+DVBT?
Hey guys, thanks for the fantastic response.
A few points:
- first launch will come in "2 flavors" : one model with Analog + DVBT tuners and one model with 2x DVBT tuners. Other "flavors" eg. DVB-C, DVB-S, DVB-S2... we've noted your feedback and look into the enginering feasibility as well as market demand. Also mostly DVB-C / S / S2 will most likely depend on the implementation of the CI-slot for conditional access to allow you to put in your subscription access cards
- the tuners are implemented using "daughter cards" meaning that in theory, the tuners can be changed / upgraded should future tuners be implemented
- CI Slot for Conditional Access, these models do NOT support CI Slot / Conditional Access. We are working with Realtek to enable this in future models. For those of you who need the CI Slot / Conditional Access for your paid-subscription, you can still connect your provider's Set-Top box AV-Out to the DVR-HD's AV-In and record the programs.
- yes, there is an AV-In (some of you asked it)
- DVB-T Tuner receives both MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 (H.264) broadcasts
- Recordings from DVB-T are .TS files, and recordings from Analog Tuner and AV-In are MPEG2 files
- Recordings from DVB-T are perfectly the same quality as the broadcast (zero loss in quality), meaning HD broadcast = HD recording. Recordings from Analog TV tuner and AV-In are DVD-quality.
- Recordings can be played back (without any conversion) directly on any Playon!DVR, Playon!DVR-TV, Playon!DVR-HD, Playon!HD, Playon!HD Mini
- Recordings can be streamed to you anywhere in the world (via your own login over internet) - yes! it's a World's First

Keep the feedback coming and feel free to ask!
ps. The DVR-HD wil definitely be making its debut at Cebit next week at our "Engage Your Senses - Playon!" booth in Hall 14 Stand L16. If you are visiting Cebit, you MUST come see us ok? We're giving free Cebit tickets for you and your friends (worth 38 euro each!!)
