What is the real question here? I think everybody would love a full working version on the POHD. That's like asking; do you like sex? Maybe the real question what is your view on the current situation with YAMJ on the POHD?
With all respect for the hard working development team, this is quiet a disappointment. Acryan has been talking about this feature since November now, but if you look at the the trail versions; the development of this feature is still in a very early stage. And maybe to early to ask us what we do or don't like.

I still love my POHD and am patiently waiting for a full working version of YAMJ on it. I am looking on this forum for months for a (working) release and even preparing it by correctly tagging my files and running it from my PC. But c'mon man! when can we see a full working version??

Love it with the following suggestions:

1. in the SETUP menu, select a default Jukebox file to always load everytime you select YAMJ from main menu.

2. Speed up load time of index.html. Takes too long to load at this point.

I agree to that point. Ok, current firmware is just a trial, and I love YAMJ, great job.
But scanning for all the jukebox in the HDD is quite long

I don't want a default single YAMJ jukebox, I want each one to look like a separate thing. The same way there is movies, music and photos, I would have Movies, TV Series, Home videos, music, photos, etc.

I do agree though that the time to load the jukebox is too long. I don't know if that is just the Playon loading it from disk, or if it does any processing of the file once it loads it. If the playon has to process the file, perhaps there could be a set-up option that "loads" the various jukebox files and does the processing then, once to speed-up each time it's loaded.

On the whole, YAMJ is a whole lot better than the other options on the Playon (browser and Media), so thumbs up!!.

I also agree that something similar for music files would be very nice; it could read the tags from the music files for cover art, artist, tracknames, etc. (Or it could be a pre-compiled xml file from that information, the same way as YAMJ)

Post Re: What's your view on YAMJ?
I run a web user experience team for a very large company in the UK. I'm big into my media and love HD.

For me, the POHD was such better value than PCH x-200s and I did a lot of reading in the forums before I bought this device.

I'm really happy with the hardware, top stuff and for the money I still think it's the best value device out there

But the user experience of the GUI is truly in need of some serious work. I've been trialing (as it's meant to be at this stage of development) the latest YAMJ and to be frank I've some issues I wanted to share:

1) Clumsy and inaccessible media library management (creation and update). I want to point my device to my movies, music and photo folders on the internal HDD (2TB) and voila, an updated library. I did read some good tips on automating YAMJ here: http://www.mediasmartserver.net/2010/01/14/guide-setting-up-yamj-yet-another-movie-jukebox-aeon-in-whs/. I found having to organise all my movies and TV Shows to be a bit of hassle, but I am being a bit lazy I grant you

2) Loading the index file each and everytime you go back to the menu is really not great. If it was instant I wouldn't mind. I have about 100 movies (all HD, 4Gb up to 15Gb) on the internal Hitachi Deskstar 7k2000 7200rpm HDD . The initial search for the file forces me to dig down three levels and then "loads" (i prefer displays, what can it be loading before I've selected it?) after about a minute. I then select the index.htm and it takes a further minute to load YAMJ. Everytime. If anyone has a solution to this, I'd be very grateful. More than anything, this is stopping me using YAMJ and making me want to go buy a PCH....

3) Let's be honest, the YAMJ default skin is very average. Take a look at XBMC or Plex and you'll soon understand! However there are obviously some half way decent YAMJ skins out there. I did find this one which might just make me a very happy camper in my quest to basically have my XBMC experience on POHD - http://mediaplayersite.com/node/119 (also, the first link above has a a great implementation of Aeon plus some mods)

So... it's hard to setup and maintain, slow/impossible to use because of the load time and frankly doesn't do much work in the the eye candy department in it's current default state. When can we expect to be able to support other skins? I think that would go a long, long way to helping this thing appeal to Jo Public as well as the tech fraternity.

Maybe a way would to get the ACRyan web design team to help with the user experience. they've done a great job on the site.

Still, we're "early adopters" and must accept such things. And let's be honest, you wouldn't be reading this if you weren't interested in tinkering with boys toys :geek:

I love the looks of YAMJ interface. Is there a download available for PoHD Mini? I can only see download for regular PlayON and I don't know if it's the same.

I am not so happy with YAMJ, it takes to long time to get the screen. You have to switch Jukebox/HDD1/Than a choice between 4 links witch give the same page and than you have the screen
Then if you want to look a film you have to scrol to the left or right because there is only one page with all films on it. fore me it is 45 films.
There is no possebillety to search or have an index page, while if i look on my pc in the file jukebox i se more screens.
It also is not possible to have a choice between different parts of an film. p.e. 24 seizon2 have 6 disks, you can only se the first one.On my PC i se an screen where you have the possebillity to make an choice between the 6 disks. But on TV is that not possible.
Than the way of changing Pictures, and the way of filling the VIDEO_TS.IFO file i s not customer frendly.
I can understand that this is to difficult voor people that is not familiar with PC software like .bat files and scripts a.s.o.
Hopefully this bugs wil be solved soon.

The IFO problems are not a bug in the Playon firmware but in YAMJ and with version 1.8 this bug has been fixed, so you might be interested in downloading the new MovieJukebox.

For all the rest, the speed is indeed not to be desired but this IS a trial, not even a beta yet so I think we need to have a bit of patience... I am confident although not affiliated to ACRyan that they will improve this in next versions...

The problems you have with season I haven't noticed.. oh well...
