Re: [HOW TO] Share Folders on Windows 7 with youtube tutorial
I also run Windows 7 x64 on my computer and had some trouble to open the shared folders from my POHD.
After following the above steps I could succesfully logon and saw the shares on my PC. But when I wanted to enter one of the shares, the POHD came up with the message that it cannot logon.
Huh..... weird, I was already logged on I thought.
Being a computer tech, i could not understand why it didn't work.
Everything was configured as it should be and i can logon to my PC and see the shares (shared folders).
Here is the situation:
I had 3 shares which I wanted to present to the POHD.
- Mijn Muziek, shares as Muziek;
- Mijn Afbeeldingen, shared as Foto's;
- Mijn Video's, shared as Video's.
As I was investigating the problem, I clicked on the "Muziek" share and to my surprise it was opened on my POHD. Before I only tried to open the "Video's" share, that didn't work. Also the share that was called "Foto's" could not be opened. What's the difference?
I turned out to be the ' reading sign in the share name.
After renaming my Foto's share to Foto and my Video's share to Video, I could succesfully open the shares with my POHD.
So my advise, don't use reading signs in your share names just normal characters (A to Z, 0 to 9).
Then you should not experience the problem i had to access my shared folders.
Good Luck,
Dennis
