Re: eSATA PCMCIA winXP hangs... please help
yeah...i jus got the card to work! so i share out how i done it.
1. install the latest driver. so just click yes to restart.
2. after restart n reach desktop, i just push in my pcmcia esata card. as usual, it will hang. but after hang for few seconds, BSOD came out, "Machine check exception", it than restart itself.[i didn't enable automatic restart after BSOD in my setting, so dunno y it wil auto restart.] BTW i still leave the card in there.
3. so the com jus restart, after bios, when the win xp loading bar start to run, it hangs. but than after it hang awhile, it continues to run! wooh... [normally it will just hang n than restart again, which it will never reach desktop when the card still inside].
4. so than blue led light up all the way to desktop. when reaches desktop, it start to auto install the driver, so successfully installed the driver, the blue led than turn off.
so i check device manager, yup it is there. n also i try plug in my hdd, n it works as per normal.
BTW my laptop is acer. so i not sure whether those people having is using acer or other brand?
zillerman also right, some card chipset jus dont work wit certain pcmcia slot. but well, i make it work! mayb is a rough way..
*something to add, remember to go to right side of taskbar and Safety Remove Hardware. so next time when u insert the card, it shld work like usb n not hang!
