It's around here in the forum somewhere:
    1. Disconnect power
    2. Insert usb with firmware
    3. Press and hold power button
    4. Connect power cable
    5. Wait some seconds (10 works for me)
    6. Release power button
    7. Enjoy new firmware

Don't know whether this is any different than the System Upgrade option, but it's the one I always use.

(No foul language, please Kraakie, you know this. ;P Chris)

I wrote this several times...
You de-install optware by installing a new firmware!
After the reboot all changes made by the script are effectively gone.
It just takes some space in the opt folder of your ext3-partition.
You can free this by issuing "rm -rf /tmp/hdd/root/opt"

Sorry for the question, but what’s the difference between transmission installed through Plug On Device or through this method?

I wouldn't know...
I never tried plugondevice..
It seems you see this system as "the-new-kid-on-the-block", but it's the other way around..

Yes, optware is Huge,Mature and running on many devices including my wl500g router.
Here is a list of optware packages for the playon!hd:

Hello Kraakie,

How to reformat Playon!HD so that I can have it fresh like from the beginning when I bought it 3 weeks back, please? I guess I've messed it up by reinstalling optware... so I just want it to start from fresh new beginning again... please advice.

Thanks.

BR,
Archie.

Hi Archie, look at this topic.http://www.acryan.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=2928

Hello Blooper65

Thanks for the informed topic-thread. It helps me a lot :)

I'd like to share something to all about 2901h and Optware from Frater.
True, you've got to install 2901 or straight 2901h but then I ran this before i initiate Frater's Optware:
Code:
[root@playa /]# mount -o remount,rw /
[root@playa /]# rm /mnt/C
[root@playa /]# ln -s /tmp/hdd/volumes/HDD1 /mnt/C

The above code to minimize error at the end of Optware installation - I found that code from one of the topic too...

Then you can initiate Frater's Optware installation at the very first post in this topic thread.
Once it finished installation Optware - make sure you restart your PoHD first before testing on all "Services" command.

Once restarted, go to telnet session and login again as root.
Then you will be able to use all "Services" command including Twonky activation and so on.

Hope that will help.

I've just reformatted my PoHD, set it back to very beginning firmware r1402 fresh as if from the box, and reconfigure back upgrades all to 2901h and Optware and now it's been able to access over my home Private VLAN WiFi from my iPhone, PSPs, PS3, Digital Wireless Photo Frames - beside off course my children's, wife's and my own laptops :))

Now compiling YAMJ - hope it can support Aeon skins soon enough, and ACR team can get it up to speed to support YAMJ on its firmware.

BR,
Archie.

Because I don't have 2901 and I'm not installing it (I will wait for a release which really brings something) I was wondering what is wrong/changed with 2901 which causes optware to fail.

I already have a "/bin/mount -o remount,rw /" statement in the script. Does it fail somehow?
Why does the symbolic link have to be recreated? Is it pointing to somewhere else?

I introduced the recreation of the symbolic link in the script... just in case..

To frater:

First of all, my compliments for the gteat job you've done.

Although I'am still choosing between POHD and Xtreamer, the first one seem to be my first choice. That's why I'm trying to find out what I can do with the box.
I noticed you install quite a lot of extra packages in your script (ssh, vsftp, etc). My question concerns the optware in general: is there a list of the (mipsel-)optware packages, which _work_ on POHD? I would be especially interested in "screen" and "rtorrent".

I'm using transmission as a torrent-client.
For a few packages I wrote special handling scripts. If you don't have a special reason to use rtorrent, you may be better off with transmission.

You also may need to make room as the 150 MB is a bit too small....

2 frater:

I use rtorrent on my desktop for years, in combination with screen and ssh, it gives me quite a flexible and interactive system.

One more question: I couldn't find anything about POHD as a NFS _server_ .
Do you know if the package below is going to work (I know, the box has samba server installed, but I would prefer NFS as I don't have any Windows PC's at home)?

Package: unfs3
Version: 0.9.18-1
Section: net
Architecture: mipsel
Maintainer: Christopher Blunck <christopher.blunck@gmail.com>
MD5Sum: 3eb154a0c09a093ca0de4a756c698f52
Size: 45555
Filename: unfs3_0.9.18-1_mipsel.ipk
Source: http://easynews.dl.sf.net/sourceforge/u ... .18.tar.gz
Description: Version 3 NFS server (not recommended, use nfs-utils instead)
