What error message did you get ?

I don't use a static IP address anymore for my Playon.

Did you :
- configure a static IP address for POHD in POHD setup menu

or

- configure POHD to use DHCP and configure your router to give a static IP address to your POHD ?

(the second way is much better)

The error I used to get was Unable to connect.

About the IP adress, I used the first option, I choose a fixed IP in the menu of het Playon. I can't find the option to configure a fixed IP adress in my router, I have a Linksys WRT54GL.

Post Transmission errors (Function not implemented and I/O error)
Hi,
I have a PlayonHD, firmware v7.06.r2388

I installed Transmission, as it is what I'm used to handle.
I started getting frequent errors, visible in the web interface:
Code:
Error: Function not implemented (/pod/data/Downloads/name_of_file)

or
Code:
Error: Input/output error(/pod/data/Downloads/name_of_file)

When I check dmesg on the unit, I sometimes get errors related to sda1 (something like "trying to access past end of device"), but it appears not to be correlated to the Transmission errors.
Top, however, shows quite high CPU utilization (over 70% for just one torrent), that then drops to zero when the error occurs. Torrents then come to a forced pause...

Any idea what might be going on?

Thanks
Jorge Ribeiro

Hi frater,
following are the outputs from my system.

I hope this helps. I really want to run transmission on this system, btpd does not help at all!

I presume you don't have an ext3 partition... Why don't you buy an internal drive... It's the cheapest way to get a NAS....?

Im not too sure about /ext3, how should I find out? My external drive is also relatively free, so I thought I'd buy one when this gets full!!! But is it better to have an internal drive, then maybe I'll get one earlier.

Also, I wanted to check if you know why do I have to keep installing btpd and samba after restarting the system? i just gets uninstalled on its own.

Thanks for all your help frater. Where are you located? It will be good to connect sometime!

I have had the same problems, on this site there is a solution which sometimes worked for me.
http://forum.transmissionbt.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=6577

My experience is that it is best to delete the torrent and the file, then start the torrent over again. While downloading leave the POHD alone and don't try to install other programs or change settings. Watching a movie is possible ofcourse.

I have no problem whatsoever to use transmission on the Playon!HD.
Are you using my install script and the watchdog?

Some already confirmed to me that it just runs out of the box....

Thanks @Knielen for your reply.
I stumbled upon that article as well, but honestly I couldn't understand what the necessary steps are...
Do they mean copy the downloaded part elsewhere, deleting the torrent and data, exiting transmission, put back the data file and start the torrent again (with transmission checking the data?).
Does it have anything to do with file fragmentation?
I don't understand...

@frater
I'm sorry, I'm kind of new to this. I'm using Transmission 1.76, installed via PlugOnDevice (www.plugondevice.com), maintained by Aurelien Albert
I guess it's not the same path as yours, as per your most active post, is it?
I guess I'm giving it a try now...

Thanks both!
JR

how do I go about removing a folder in /mnt/C/Torrent/work? I seem to have a corrupted file in one of the subfolders, and rmdir and rm commands don't work...

Code:
rm -r /mnt/C/Torrent/work/<folder>

if this gives an error and you want to erase everything in /mnt/C/Torrent/work
Code:
rm -r /mnt/C/Torrent/work
mkdir -p /mnt/C/Torrent/work

"rm -r /mnt/C/Torrent/work" doesn't work, returns a "cannot remove directory '/mnt/C/Torrent/<folder>': Directory not empty" error

I've tried going into the offending folder to remove the solitary file in there, but that file cannot be deleted. When I connected the POHD to the PC direct, accessing that particular folder caused my Windows to crash.
