thanks frater, Transmission is a godsend, solely because of encryption. A whole bunch of other stuff is installed as well, how do I go about exploring the other applications?

I think there's a misunderstanding here....
If you upgrade the firmware (again even if you already have that firmware) your ACRyan reboots and comes back as an almost plain vanilla ACRyan.

You only need to remove the opt folder in the ext3 partition to free some space. That directory is not your homedir anymore.....

ok thnx
btw did you figurere out if you can resize the ext3 ?

Any idea on how we can control transmission directly from playon's torrent menu instead of from PC's webif?

I'm thinking if we can replace the script in /tmp/hdd/root/script/btpd with some compatible transmission script so that when we access the torrent menu, it will control transmision instead of btpd.

Any idea how to write such script and will this work?

Hi Frater, first thanks a lot for the script, software and your other efforts.

I first want only install transmission, not the twonkey media server ..., there for can I remove line 274-298 from your ryanopt script so it's not installed or do i mess up the whole script this way?

TIA

Cheers
Kees

After the install you can just run "service twonky off" and it will not startup and will not take any resources besides some drivespace. You can even get that back by just deleting the folder where twonky is in.

If you delete these lines from ryanopt it's good too.

edit 1-10-2009: current installs have twonky disabled on startup. If you want to use it just run
Code:
service twonky on
service twonky start

I had some major problems after tinkering with the partition size. In the end I was able to restore that partition without having to reformat the whole disk.
Thanks to hrdtv and the virgin-file he publishes: http://dtv.wateringen.net/playon-part.zip

Now it's 159 MB again and I want to leave it for now.
I hope we can get a firmware with which we can just format the ext3 seperately from the rest.

Hi Frater,

I have installed optware, transmission, ... with your script. But i can't get any download started. Ports tcp and udp forwarded, watchdog configured, .... Transmission Web Interface works fine, torrents added .... everything looks fine but the status stays idle. Did read something about it at http://forum.transmissionbt.com/viewtop ... 9&start=15 libcurl thing but i don't understand it.

[root@PlayonHD ~]# transmission-remote -t 3 -i

Any idea what go wrong, btpd did work on the box.

BTW Can you tell what's the correct procedure to remove the optware, transmission ....

First do an "rm -r /tmp/hdd/root/opt" and then re-upgrade firmware, or only do an "rm -r /tmp/hdd/root/opt", or first re-upgrade firmware and then do an "rm -r /tmp/hdd/root/opt"?

Thanks and Cheers
Kees

re-upgrade firmware
make your network settings....
login with telnet
and remove the opt directory and the twonkydata.....
and reboot....
Code:
rm -rf /tmp/hdd/root/opt
rm -rf /mnt/C/twonky
reboot

You already gave up?
It IS working here.....
It is of course possible I made a little tweak which I didn't include in my install script....

I will do a virgin install this evening and see if it works out of the box.....

Here's the speed of the Acryan's harddisk

# hdparm -tT /dev/sda

/dev/sda:
Timing cached reads: 86 MB in 2.04 seconds = 42.16 MB/sec
Timing buffered disk reads: 72 MB in 3.04 seconds = 23.68 MB/sec
