Re: [BETA] ACR-PV76120_v8.5.x.8755_Playon!DVR-HD
The BIG problem here is that "fixes" for two bugs/shortcomings (yes 2 and that's as claimed by ACR) have been provided to the Official 7317 since 1 Feb 2012 (although there was the replacement on 8 Feb 2012). (I'm still on the previous RC as the reports on 7317 were so horrendous I have been waiting....)
I am sure the buglist is pretty long and these 2 fixes will not satisfy many - and that's IF they work and nothing further has been broken in the process.
Seems that only if the bug gets fixed as a byproduct of working on their current products (I refer to the POHD as a legacy product) and they can be bothered, then they might put the fix on the firmware for our box.
Crumbs from the table is not good enough IMHO.
Lesson is - don't go software-on-chip, get an open platform with user/developer input allowed.
So on the basis that we've been abandoned by ACR, where do we go from this point?
How about we post our suggestions here, I would be interested to see which systems have been put together: - someone to design the wishlist first?
HTPC basics (which CPU-mobo, and which OS *nix, Win? probably doesn't matter)
LAN wired/wireless
quiet
IPTV
Youtube
remote access via web including wake on LAN
full codecs, and fully upgradeable
full HD
..
..
and finally. The POHD should have delivered all that I actually want, but it did not, alas
