To answer my own question
My research says not, the Realtek MIPS chipset probably won't support the required Graphics Accel. for XBMC.
-- and of course before Mikael points out this would invalidate any warranty - hmm not sure what that would be !

TIP: It has been said many times and repeated on howto sheets - BUT before giving up try removing the .theater folder (database) and then doing a rescan. ref: viewtopic.php?f=41&t=15006

I didn't and slightly  red faced must admit all of my laggy performance, remote not responding, unable to switch off, freezing and lockups are GONE !!!. So maybe 7317 not bad - just "user error" on my part.

Can I suggest that for future remedies people try this simple fix first (at least to eliminate DB corruption as a cause). I also think it should be standard procedure immediately after flashing new firmware.

It has been more than 4 months since the release of r7317. When is an update due? I am sick and tired the errors encountered when I try and copy multiple files from USB to the HDD.

no replies since 9 jun. it's either good news and no-one is having troubles or it's bad news and people bought a new player... ;)

Anyways, i had some troubles again running this firmware, i wanted to transfer some files from my pc to the player and since it was 44,2GB in total i didn;t want to do it over the network.
1MB/s (or 3,5MB/s immediately after a reboot) is just way too slow for that size.

So i wanted to transfer by USB.
As soon as i connected the cables i noticed Windows Explorer was reacting a lot slower.
Windows aksed me if i wanted to check the disk, clicked "yes" and then... nothing..
After 10 minutes still no progress so i canceled diskcheck (crashed windows explorer) and opened the D:\ drive (the player), it was empty, no folders or files.
So i unplugged the USB and plugged it back in, again a slow Explorer..
This time i said "NO" to diskcheck, opened D:\ en saw my files again after quite a while.

Finally i tried to copy my files to the player but now Windows said D. didn't exist..
So, rebooted the player, tried again, same message, again a slow explorer when the player was connected (after unplugging the USB Windows was fast again)
Rebooted Windows AND the player, same message, same problems no matter what i tried.

In the end i ripped open the player, put it in my PC (did a diskcheck, no problems on the drive) copied the files and put the drive back in the player, a LOT easier.

It's not the first time i've had these problems and all sollutions the moderaters are giving aren't helping, the only thing that could (should!) work is a new firmware.
NAS doesn't work and Samba is very very slow and you can't expect clients to remove the harddrive constantly just to transfer a file.

Oh, and don't tell me to flash the firmware again, tried that a LOT of times, never worked

When are we expecting the next release?

In the past, Youtube and such are still able to work. Now, i cant even get it to play.

BT torrent downloading continue to fail. What took me mins to download on my laptop, never get to complete on the player itself despite leaving my unit on 24hrs, and stuck at miserable 4-5%

My unit box is taking longer to response to navigation of menus upon startup. I have to keep pressing stop button repeatedly so that i can navigate faster and not waiting for background loading.

Also, if i leave my unit on upon startup without 'stop' button interference, it will keep restarting the unit few minutes into loading endlessly.

With regards,

This is also the only way one should do.
Never copy about the Playon.
And Autoscan off and never scan.
After make a Favorit put the HDD in PC and make diskcheck.
After make format with the Playon put the HDD in PC and make diskcheck.

PS. or flash the firmware again and again and ...

If you have issues with 'hanging' during movies please make sure you have 'safe-flashed' the firmware. If your problem still continues? Please contact support with mediainfo details of the files you are having issues with or further details with what is happening.

Br,

the hanging issues is random, it can happen anytime while playing any movies, or pressing the remote control while playing any movies, it also restart itself while movies playing many times in a day. The hanging/restarting issues is so frequent now after the upgrade.

How do i safe -flashed ?
How do i downgrade to a previous version ?

downgrade to previous version and everything works again ... no more hanging issues...
