Post Firmware 7317 with YAMJ modifications
AndyA's YAMJ modifications version 1.7 have been included in modified 7317 firmware releases for all Playon models that support YAMJ. The modified firmware also enables controlling the Samba service from a PC in a Telnet or PuTTY session. The modified firmware for the Mini and Mini2 further includes swapping and the Stupid FTP server.

Users can install this modified firmware in the usual manner instead of applying the method described in AndyA's post.

These are the download links for the modified firmware. The ZIP files contain instructions for installation and use.

Post Re: Firmware 7317 with YAMJ modifications
After installation of this firmware to my POHD2, when I startup the box, it keep asking me to format the internal HDD. But I don't want to because I have 500 GB of files in it.

Any help?

There should be an option in the settings menu to switch off asking to reformat your drive.
Next you might try to install the modded firmware without the hard disk and insert the hard disk after installation and redoing your settings.
And if that does not help, revert to the official 7317 firmware and apply Andy's modifications manually.

Thank you for replying.

I had not been clear when I typed out my problems in a rush last time.

After doing a safe mode installation of the modified 7317 firmware, when I startup the box, it fails to detect that I have a formatted internal HDD 4 times out of 5 (approx), and then the box will prompt me to format my HDD. And yes, strangely enough, once in a while, it will boot up fine and mount my HDD correctly.

Obviously, turning off the format HDD option is not helpful because I still have no access to files in my HDD since HDD is not even mounted. In addition, I read that it is really difficult (physically) to remove the internal HDD and I'm afraid of physically breaking something, so not really keen on trying out your suggestion no 2.

I remembered from past experiences when I just bought my box, there was once after upgrading my firmware, a similar situation occurred. I had little data inside my HDD then, so I just went ahead and formatted my HDD again and it has been working fine since then.

But this time, even after I formatted the HDD according to the prompt, the problem persists. (I did a backup before formatting)

Upon rolling back to the original official 7317 firmware, everything is fine. HDD mounted correctly every time.

I guess I'll just stay with official 7317 firmware until there is an explanation on what caused this strange behaviour.

I think I know the explanation, but because none of the test team has a Playon with hard disk, we could not properly test the firmware modification for hard disk models.
If you are willing to do some testing some for us, let me know (on the forum or per PM) what model you have. I will then make a revised firmware available to see if that resolves the problem indeed.

I'm using a POHD2. The internal HDD is Samsung HD204UI (2TB/R54/32M). Other than 2TB, I have no idea what the other numbers means.

The numbers mean:-

2TB=2 Tearbyte
R54=5400rpm (more than sufficient for a player)
32M=32Mbyte Cache (Again more than sufficient)

Early next week Andy and I will be releasing an update to the YAMJ revision with some vey spunky skins. Have a preview here:- http://www.acryan.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=95&t=19176&p=133475#p133475

These will not be updated via a new firmware so it may be an idea to read through installing them manually at the start of that same topic.
