I wouldn't say your statement "AC Ryan know exactly how can eliminate this error" is correct. Essentially you're asking the users to dig into the firmware and make their own solution or abandon the internal HDD in favour of a USB device. Like many users, I bought this specifically because of the internal drive so I could store media locally. If that were my preference I'd have bought something like a Cyclone Micro for a fraction of the POHD price and stuck a fat pen drive in it.

As I and no doubt others are not linux users the 'solution' is not very helpful.

Do AC Ryan have a buy back policy for people unable to use the devices functions due to design limitations. More than likely under the UK's Sales of Goods Act this would be classed as a misrepresentation and entitle me to a refund.

First of all can you let us know what is the issue of the set? How long have you been using the it and which firmware version does it come when you purchased it?

anyway, my solution (using Windows);
plug in the drive onto a computer
if windows asks you to repair the disk, say yes (this is basically the GUI for CHKDSK)
otherwise, you can start command prompt, and run: chkdsk /f /r /x

I've got about 500gb used up, with alot of series and movies. It took about 12 hours for my chkdsk to complete!!! so make sure you don't disconnect or your PC won't shutdown/lose power while this is running.
