 Re: [Beta] Firmware_Playon!HD2_PV73700_v9.5.3.r7716
Duivels,
I will do so. However this indicates that it is not possible to internally mount a HD from an other system into the POHD2. This leaves a dedicated HD for the POHD2, not to be used for other systems, wright?
About copying the data: I can remove the old disk with data out of the POHD2. Then place the new drive into the POHD2 and format it with the player. I can mount the POHD2 with new drive through the USB with my PC. I can mount the "old HD" with data with a sata-to-USB converter to the PC. From this i can copy all files/directories from "old HD" to POHD2 with new HD. I hope that the old files are read and write correctly without curruption. If files become corrupted we can say that the POHD with 7716 firmware is unreliable, wright?

The drive must have an NTFS partition of at least 16 MB, a Linux swap partition (128 MB recommended), an Ext3 partition of at least 512 MB in this order. It is possible to add an Ext3 partition to be used for data instead of the NTFS partition. This leaves a dedicated HD for the POHD2, not to be used for other systems, wright? What do you mean by "wright'? You can use the NTFS partition of the HD elsewhere, the Linux swap and Ext3 partitions are ignored by Windows, similar to the Linux partitions on a dual boot Windows/Linux PC
About copying the data: I can remove the old disk with data out of the POHD2. Why not? Then place the new drive into the POHD2 and format it with the player. Yes I can mount the POHD2 with new drive through the USB with my PC. Yes, but you can also mount the disk as an internal disk in your PC after formatting it in the Playon. I can mount the "old HD" with data with a sata-to-USB converter to the PC. Ditto From this i can copy all files/directories from "old HD" to POHD2 with new HD. I hope that the old files are read and write correctly without curruption. I recommend to CHKDSK your old HD before you start copying If files become corrupted we can say that the POHD with 7716 firmware is unreliable, wright? As long as you use the Windows enviroment for copying/moving your files, you cannot conclude that the Playon's firmware is faulty.

Hi Duivels,
I didn't ment to piss you off. I tried to make clear that inserting an interna HD to the POHD2 is not obvious. I've lost already many hours for repairing files and suffering a good explanation why this happens. If i do the same thing, copying files within windows, i don't have this problems.
Again the manual does not mention your complex ritual or set restrictions. With the flap aside the POHD2 it indicates that "you just can insert" any drive. I have problems with your statement that: "As long as you use the Windows enviroment for copying/moving your files, you cannot conclude that the Playon's firmware is faulty". This is a nono if don't indicate how to do this properly without any data loss or corruption. Many customers don't understand this as they just plug-in the unit as if it is a memory stick. Inform them properly!

Many people do not even know how to handle a memory stick, do not "safely remove hardware" before removing it from their PC and then wonder why they lose data. In the 18 months that I have owned my Playon, I have never had any trouble. Only by running the test script from this post I could force the NTFS error.

I don't no if you using the internal HD extensively. My HD is filled up with movied up to say 70%. ( 400MB) If i put on new movies, older one's and sometomes the new ones become corrupted. I invite other people with the same problem to indicate this here.

As you may know a Mini has no internal disk.
Further 7716 is a beta firmware, which is published for testing and is not supposed to be faultless.

Yep, after installing this firmware I'm very, very sure about it! I am going to sell this piece of crap! Never had more rebootloops! This is really, really dissapointing. I actually want my money back, but the unit is almost a year old now so that's not going to work either.
Thanks AcRyan for the crappiest piece of hardware I ever bought!

Duivels,
You really shooting wrong arrows now. This topic IS for people having a Playon HD2... Don't start comparing with a mini. If all your comments are based on a MINI you can't support HD2 users. We talk different language then. Pack your things.
Besides that, the 7716 firmware should have an improved NTFS driver. I had the issue with the official releases before moving, at your recommendation, to 7716. Read back before you suggest any excuses for beta firmware. This is really lousy.. What are we doing here..

 Re: [Beta] Firmware_Playon!HD2_PV73700_v9.5.3.r7716
The NTFS issues are identical for all types and internal and external hard disks, but some people seem more affected by them than others. If you consider this Quote: The 7761 beta firmware release for the 2 series should provide the solution, but I do not know: a. if it is the final solution of the NTFS issues indeed; b. if it originates from Realtek or from AC Ryan themselves.
Form discussions elsewhere on the forum it seems that 7716 has new issues. a recommendation for 7716, you must have been aware that I made a proviso.

 Re: [Beta] Firmware_Playon!HD2_PV73700_v9.5.3.r7716
@Snorrowiets
I can confirm Duivels is correct.
The 7716 firmware NTFS implementation is a piece of crap across all devices and was reported Day 1 of it's release.
I personally tested and reported it, and before you give me shit about not knowing anything about the HD2, I tested it on 3 x Mini 2's and a HD 2.
If you want to display an attiude like this on the forum, you will be lucky to ever get any advice.
