@ cobuss

First for FTP to work, you must be sure that the HDD is been formatted by the player system. If not, then you will have random issue accessing it. Next, be sure to try it first on your local network where both devices are connected.

On the player side just create any username and password under the player FTP setting. Then on your PC web browser, keyin ftp://playerIPAddress a username and password is required before you can browse the HDD content.

Hi Roger,

The ftp functionality worked for me on previous versions of firmware, but it stopped working with a GUI2 firmware update. At that time the firmware would constantly ask to format the drive. If I say no, it loads and everything is ok.

After downgrading and going through the whole process of updating firmware up to the current one, the ftp functionality never worked again.

PS: The disk was originally formatted by the POHD and has been used since I bought the POHD.

Is there any message showing after you key-in the correct username and password. If you still cannot then you might want to try through http via the player neighbor web. (http://playerIPAddress:1024)

I will give it a try. via http interface.

When I enable ftp on the player and set the usr and pwd it fails to accept it.
The error message is that a HDD could not be found...

So is this one still as buggy as the old 7317? After it screwed my HD I went back to the .4824. I'm actually kinda just waiting for this thing to break so I can go with somebody else. Can't say that I've been pleased with the quality of the software nor the hardware.

Hello Playon!HD owners!

Update - 07-02-2012: We have replaced this firmware v7.4.x.r7317 with a new revision that fixes the Thumbnail view (distorted image) issue, so you can view your folders with 'Thumbnail view'. If you with your remote control go to 'Setup > Misc > Version info' and check the 'Compiled at' date. If it does not say: Feb 07 - 2012 - you will not have the updated version. Simply re-download and flash this firmware again to have this fixed.

Hmm you don't say cause this says otherwise.

when is the next "official" firmware is going to come out? is samba that hard to fix?????

i mean, what the hack can be that hard to fix a piece of software? just open the damn debug, try to copy a file over samba and see what the hack is making it crash.. Geeesh!
stop adding unneded features like DLNA.. we want a mediaplayer that plays LOCAL FILES and also doesn't need to be connected through USB because wifey is maybe watching a movie.

that's why we spent the extra $100.. to operate on the harddrive while in use.

FIX IT! FIX IT FIX IT!

Actually, I like the DLNA to be fixed. Sometimes DLNA doesn't work at all and the other times it stops working after a few minutes.

I always copy movies to the player using USB, because over the network it takes ages. USB is slow as well, but at least it works.

Just fix the current issues and don't introduce new features. I would like to finally have a player that operates without problems. Is that to much to ask after many year of crappy firmwares.
