 Connecting Playon!HD Mini2 to the Playon!HD2
Hello,
A little while back I bought the Playon!HD Mini2 in order to stream movies\audio to a different location in the house. I've connected the Playon!HD Mini2 to my home network.
Now, I was under the idle impression that the Playon!HD Mini2 would easily find my Playon!HD2 - but clrealy it isn't that easy. The Playon!HD Mini2 finds all computers within the network, but not my Playon!HD2.
No doubt I'm overlooking something, but could someone point me in the right direction?
Thanks in advance.

Did you switch on the SAMBA/NAS option on your HD2? After this it may take some time before the HD2 becomes available in your network. This has to do with Windows network detection, which scans for newly added devices only once in about 15 minutes.

Yes, I did (Samba). I can find the HD2 from any other computer available in my network.

Do the computers in your network with shared folders or files show on your Mini2? Does your Mini2 have internet access? Can you describe the configuration of your network?
What you want has been successfully accomplished by several members of the forum without any fuss. Both ways: playing HD(2) content on the Mini(2) and playing Mini(2) (USB) content on the HD(2).

Nothing fancy, just your standard, automatic windows network. Duivels wrote: What you want has been successfully accomplished by several members of the forum without any fuss. Quote: Nothing fancy, just your standard, automatic windows network. Well I also have nothing fancy, but not just an automatic windows network, whatever that may be. Did you change the host name of one of your Playons? By default the host name is PlayonHD and you cannot have two identical host names in one network. The host name must not have more than eight characters.

File Manager > Network (All) > .. and there I notice my domain and shortcuts.EDIT: I think I've found the problem. The HD2 is listed under a new domain "WORKGROUP", but I think there is no such domain registered. I contact the HD2 with a direct IP from my PC. So, that leaves two questions: - How can I change the domain of the HD2? (Can't seem to locate it on setup). - As an alternative, how can I create a connected via \\IP\share ?

 Re: Connecting Playon!HD Mini2 to the Playon!HD2
Your Playons have two different host names then, which is correct. Both on your HD2 and your Mini2 you should see: Code: File manager > Network > [workgroup 1] > [devices in workgroup 1] [workgroup 2] > [devices in workgroup 2] etc. I do not quite understand what you mean by domain, because if you have domains, you definitely do not have a fancy automatic windows network. Contrary to what has been advised, it is not required to have one work group called WORKGROUP in your network. The HD2 should be able to see itself in its own work group under network and so should the Mini, like you can see your own PC both straightforward and in the network section of the Windows Explorer. Look here on how to change the default workgroup name of your Playons. For your understanding and to avoid confusion: work groups and domains are entirely different things.
