Post YAMJ - Beginners questions for comfortable usage
Hi community,

I just recently got my Playon!HDmini2. I bought it to use the handy YAMJ moviewall. I already learned, that a playback problem where the min2 restarted after trying to play DVD folders structure will be fixed in the next AC.Ryan GUI release. Sadly it won't be possible to get "actor" pages with their movies that are in the moviewall cause of API / SDK restrictions. Would be great to click actors at movie page, choose an actor, get seperate site whith detailed information about the actor and a choice of movies that he plays in and are listed in the movie wall.

Thanks for the nice GUI Omertron.

I still have some questions and maybe I get some help / usefull instructions:

(1) I have some series in my moviejukebox. Sadly there is "only" a season cover and if chosen you will see all episodes in that season as a "play" button. There is no information/description for each episodes besides it would be helpful and the information is given via "thetvdb" anyway. Is it possible to get detailed information/seperate site for each episode? Maybe there is a work around? Would be great if that is possible.

(2) By using imdb, some descriptions are missing or aren't shown completely (...more). Are there possibilities to get the missing data from ofdb e.g.? So that YAMJ scans first imdb and after that it uses e.g. ofdb to fill missing data up?
(2.1.) If not, is it possible to fill in own data, and if yes how?
(2.2.) If any of those is possible. How can u save the changes, so an update or scan won't overwrite the changes?

(3) Even if some movies are HD there will still be chosen a SD Cover not BluRay. Sometimes those covers are in the wrong language. Is it possible to switch these covers, and if yes how? (3.1) How can these changes be saved so an update or rescan won't undo them?

(4) Is it possible to add your own genre?

(4.1.) How can I add it to the moviewall?
(4.2.) How can I add the genre to the movie?

(5) Is it possible to choose background music for the moviewall?

(6)
Is there a plan to add dvd-palace as a scan option? Ther might be tons of databases, but I used Grifith to organise my movies and always took data from dvd-palace espacially cause u can choose not only a movie, but which release. e.g. steel book, Blu-Ray, collector's edition, director's cut etc.

(7) Why wouldn't Yamj find "Top_Gun_(1986)_tt0092099.iso" correctly?

(8) Is it possible to show the year of release beneath the cover?

A lot of questions, I'will be thankfull for help and especially good practible tipps.

Thank's

I'll attempt to answer some of your questions and my colleagues hopefully will answer the others.

1. Is it possible to get detailed information/seperate site for each episode? NO
2. Are there possibilities to get the missing data from ofdb NO
3. Is it possible to switch these covers, and if yes how? (3.1) How can these changes be saved so an update or rescan won't undo them? (4) Is it possible to add your own genre? (4.1.) How can I add it to the moviewall? (4.2.) How can I add the genre to the movie? You will need to read up on creating NFO files, add the data to them and edit the NFO file for the genre that you want. This will then be added to the Moviewall eg I have a custom Genre called "Chick Flix" that I use frequently.
4.(5) Is it possible to choose background music for the moviewall? NO

Over to the others...

Post Re: YAMJ - Beginners questions for comfortable usage
Hi

I can add to Gregiboy's answers
  • 1 and 2 are definitely no, as it would require a major rewrite of YAMJ and the Jukebox interface, and YAMJ runs on more than one brand of Media Player
  • For genres - see the wiki here for the XBMC format for .nfo files - you can add Genres to a movie here, and it will not get overwritten. The Genres added will appear in the Jukebox
  • Background music is definitely not supported
  • dvd-palace is not on the list of supported sites for YAMJ, and would need a new plugin writing for YAMJ, assuming it has a stable and published API. The main sites used are IMDB for movies and TheTVDB for TVShows. Other sites also exist, especially for non english language users. see the plugins section of the wiki
  • The Top Gun .iso file - check the YAMJ naming standards in the wiki, but look at the AC Ryan page and the restrictions for the current firmware SDK. You may be better off using a .nfo file, which just contains the URL of the movie on IMDB
  • If YAMJ is identifying the movie correctly, the year of release is shown on the movie page, and not on the cover on the main movie wall, and this cannot be changed

Hope this is useful

Andy

Hi Gregi and Andy,

thank's a lot for your quick, patient and short support. To get it correct:

(1) As a work around: Make a NFO_File for each episode containing the information from TheTVDB. Aggregate the Episodes e.g. with [SET NAME_OF_SERIE Season 1] and Genre that is used for TV Series.
Would that work? Can any program do that automatically?

(2) I will probably copy all XML Files, jpg. etc. in the movie folders and add manually the missing data.

(3) Is it posible to change Covers? Do I have to use Ember for that? Any good instructions or other programs? Heard ember was paused and won't support YAMJ any more for future development.

(4) Thx I will do so!

(5) + (6)

(7) Thx I will do so! Already used the Playon_Naming_Convention but will try to add the imdb ID to the NFO.

(8) Sad. Is it possible to sort genre selection on release date? I know there is the option for decade sort, but not for release date sort, which would be very nice feature.

(9) Some folders already have a NFO File in which there is mentioned a layerbreak. Can I leave the layerbreak in the first line and add the other information beneath?

Thanks for your support and quick response.

Item 1. No... All that is needed is the NFO file and JPG for the first episode and you do not need to bother with sets. I use THumbgen to create the NFO (XBMC Format) and export the gover as $M\$N then edit the NFO for any changes I need. These files MUST be in the same directory as the vido (and subtitle) fioes.

2. Do not copy the XML files.

3. Don't bother, Use Thumbgen

8. No. Decade, Last year and this year only.

Post Re: YAMJ - Beginners questions for comfortable usage
Thx for the quick answer again. I'll try thumbgen.

(1) Season and Episodes are shown as intended. But my intention was to get a page per episode not per season. The work around I'll try will be to name the episodes with their title and not s01e01 so that yamj expects a movie. To asure that the moviewall is still handy and not overfilled by single episodes, I`ll put all episodes of season01 in a [set XYZ season1]. I`ll add nfo for each episode with description. Might be a day work but will probably result in what I wanted.

(9) Any suggestions or experience with these layerbreak nfo`
s?
Thx

Hi

Read the wiki section on nfo files carefully - it is useful.
I'll give you an example of TV series file / folder layout etc, using Friends: -
  • Subdirectories are Friends, Friends\Season 1, Friends\Season 2 etc
  • In each season directory, name episodes Friends S01E01 xxxxx.avi, Friends S01E02 xxxx.avi etc. Where S01 = Season, E01 = Episode and xxxx = Episode title and is optional. I use .avi files, you might use mkv's mpegs etc
  • Each seson needs an .nfo file in the season folder and can be called either Season 1.nfo, Season 2.nfo etc. or named EXACTLY as the first episode, but with a .nfo extension
  • In the 'Friends' Folder save the top level artwork, called Set_Friends_1.jpg

On slight issue when using Thumbgen though - it is good for a lot of things, but as I have just found out with Greg, It ONLY ouputs .nfo files in the XBMC Movie format and not the XBMC TVShow format. There are minor differences only, and you will see these in the YAMJ wiki, but it can mean YAMJ tries to treat your TV Shows as part movie / part TV Show and the TV Shows can be seen in some categories such as sets which are for Movies only.

If you manage to get to a page per episode can you share how you have done it

Andy

[How To] Get a single page for each episode in a YAMJ moviewall

(A) Rename FILE from SerieNAME S01E01 to EpisodeNAME [SET SERIE_Name SEASON01]
e.g.: rename "King of queens S01E01.iso" to "Pilot [SET King of Queens Season 1].iso" or "King of Queens Pilot [SET King of Queens Season 1].iso"
- folder name can be left as SERIE S01E01
- Do not use _ "underlines"!
- If you have VIDEO_TS structure you have to rename the folder as explained
- it is necessary to renam file from SXXEXX structure to EpisodeName!
- you can leave the name like SERIE S01E01 and add a imdb link to NFO. This way, Thumbgen can automatically add information from imdb and output it to the NFO file BUT YAMJ will still group all episodes to a season overview page!
- SET is important if you don't want to mess up your moviewall with a cover for each episode
- quick way is probably to open thetvdb and just copy and paste/rename - heard there are rename tools are they worth a try?

(B) Open IMDB -> search your serie -> There is a link with an overview to the episodes of each season

(C) Create a NFO File in each episode folder including the imdb Link for episode

(D) Run YAMJ

RESULT:
=> Each episodes are grouped in the Season SET
=> Each episode has a single individual page

negative/still to fix:
- won't show in the "TVShow" YAMJ Categorie/Genre
- will only contain english short discriptions
- episodes won't sort in correct way - any suggestions?
- There won't be buttons to play other episodes from the serie as in season overview
- there will only be english titles for episodes

can be done:
- Use Thumbgen to add more information from TheTVDB e.g.
- Maybe adding correct date of "first aired" will fix sort problem

Thanks for sharing this information - a lot of people will find this useful.
A couple of points: -
    Quote:
rename "King of queens S01E01.iso" to "Pilot [SET King of Queens Season 1].iso" or "King of Queens Pilot [SET King of Queens Season 1].iso"

  • You are using square brackets in file names - these can cause problems with the SDK4 Jukebox and prevent content being played - suggest you use round brackets instead.

    Quote:
won't show in the "TVShow" YAMJ Categorie/Genre
  • Sets are relevant to Movies only - so YAMJ is treating your TV series as movie box sets

    Quote:
will only contain english short discriptions
  • Try adding the following property to moviejukebox.properties and doing a clean build of YAMJ
    Code:
    imdb.plot=long

    Quote:
episodes won't sort in correct way - any suggestions?
  • Use an NFO file for each episode, as though they were movies in a box set, and use the XMBC XML format. In the set definiton you can use the order parameter - see the exmple for the 3rd item in the set:-
    Code:
    <set order="3">Set Name</set>

    Quote:
There won't be buttons to play other episodes from the serie as in season overview
  • Not sure you can fix this one - the buttons are relevant to TV series or multi part movies

    Quote:
there will only be english titles for episodes
  • You can set IMDB to other languages, as you can with the other sites. See the properties configuration and plugin pages in the YAMJ Wiki

Hope this is useful

Andy
