Re: PlayOn!X firmware (Optware friendly r4824)
hi, can anyone help at all, i am running fw 7317 and really dont like it, i always liked the original fw 4824 apart from some small things, with this playon x fw being based on the 4824fw i thought it would be perfect to give it a try, unfortunately i cant seem to install it over fw7317, i tried going to usb upgrade and it says no update found, i also tried pressing the power button for 15 secs on the play on but the unit just starts and boots into fw 7317 and doesnt seem to try to upgrade.
i tried with bothj fw's playon x normal and safe fw.
can anyone tell me what i am doing wrong or can i not put playon x fw on my playon hd now that 7317 is on it?

I deleted the NTV dir. And downloaded and copied the dir NTV again. Now i see in the \\playonhd\HDD1\scripts\NTV directory 2 files (ntv.rss and 24.php) and one dir (image).
But on the playon i see the same reaction, i see a new menu (NTV) that it is made by mikka and elpino but i doen't work.
The menu.rss is in the dir script---menu.rss and there is an menu.original.rss. In the menu.rss i kopied the lines.
Note: NTV worked fine for a while ago. I think aug-sept.
What can i do, or what i did wrong If you now see the NTV menu (10 button icons) but when you click on a button nothing happens it could be the internet connection of the POHD. This because the NTV package isn't the 'real' software, it justs links to websites where the software is running. This is done for technical reasons, to simply add new functionality and/or do bugfixes. About all items in the NTV packages requests pages of internet site http://playon.unixstorm.org/NTVthe uitzendinggemist uses the internet site http://uzg.elpino.nlnick jr uses the internet site 81.23.249.30 Please verify your POHD is connected to Internet correctly. Could you try other items (not NTV) that are using internet.. are they working??

james you must use safe version/method.. maybe first downgrade to an official 4824 and then try the playon!x? see e.g. viewtopic.php?f=108&t=17659

I assume you are trying it on a POHD v1 ?? Maybe try the 'normal' forums, because it seems like this isn't a problem with playon!x but more with your POHD icw official r4824.. Try another (more active) forum or contact acryan directly to get better/quicker answers.[/quote]

And i can see the POHD in my pc. But other items (you tube of so) are also not working. What is the problem???? I have an new wifi modem. But everthing else is working oke.

Re: PlayOn!X firmware (Optware friendly r4824)
hi guys first of all thanks to mikka for his amazing work don´t understand why mikka is able to do such a great job and acryan can´t i´ve installed everything and can´t believe the speed of the gui i´d like to try the rss jukebox, which one will work with a nas? my nas has 2 harddisks and on both are movies, how do i set it up? can i include the pohd internal disk and the nas at the same time? as a newbie on linux/telnet i haven´t got youtube 2 working yet, is it possible to make a "how to" section here in the forum? something like: to get youtube 2 you have to install: - firmware version 5.1 - optware at least version xy - rss packs at least version xy - start service lighttpd - telnet this and that now it should work going through over 30 pages here is a pain to find the needed information and it would save people asking the same question over and over again keep up the good work
