could you please tell us the struction you use to reproduce the reboot loop and the file system you use which is more stable? Do "&" effect the stability within file names, folders and tags? if so can this be sorted as i don't want to go through 100gb of music to remove all of them!

Is it likley you will have the reboot loop problem fixed in the next firmware or so?

I was reading your posts. Did you update with safe-mode to r.7716, and then manually delete the .Theater folder. Then enable the system scan and reboot. Do you still get the reboot?

Just so we are talking about the same thing. We use NTFS with our internal and external hard drives, but we also test other file systems that we officially support for external hard drives.

And then you can do somting els. Its slows down the machine. And the menu. I have the funtion HDD scan off. But still do it.

Have more people see this happen ?
Best regards.

Hello,

If you go to 'Setup:System:Clearn history: Yes'

You will speed up your player and not see those inputs anymore.

Should this update solve the problem with the 0 kb files and problems with Samba and copying files thru wifi?

Or what does "update of NTFS driver" exactly should update and solve??

Hello,

Having a healthy drive decreases the chances for hard drive related issues. This update should be more stable for the NTFS handling and decrease the chances for any hard drive related issues.

Since our last firmware we also added the 'Setup:System:Scan hdd for errors' option to decrease these occurances. Which we recommend that you use if you have had a crash or sudden power failiure.

Note that this is a beta release and should be treated as such.

Hi Mikael

Finally got around to installing the newer firmware! and to my surprise its not rebooting (yet) as it was on the previous version. it also seems a little quicker!! so far so good. I was just wanting to know about the reboot loop issues as i have had such bad experience.

When i installed and turned scanning back on it didn't start. restarted and now it is! my main concern is it's still scanning content when you turn the unit on when no new music/content is being added? is this a bug or is it meant to do this?

I do feel we are nearly there! at least for my needs!! could we have an updated manual also? I'm normally pretty good with these things but still don't really get the shortcut thingy and how to use it, the DLNA thing too? I have the capability on my phone but haven't worked out how to see my phone on the ACR yet?

I'm glad it's not rebooting anymore. It should not with the latest version if you have removed the previous damaged .Theater folder.

If you use the scanning option, and then reboot without adding content, it will still check the previous database if there are any changes and therefore loading a while. There is no way around it.

We will most likely not update the manual at anytime soon, from the indication I have. We do however have a lot of the none manual explinations in our 'HOW TO' section for all our products here on the forum. Also add that you can contact us with email, phone for the very few things that you can't find on our forum or manual. For your particular question you have a link here: viewtopic.php?f=172&t=15112

If you have specific questions regarding which apps to use for your phone. Simply send us a email as we have quite a lot of Android and iOS experience in our staff and we can probably guide you to the good apps regarding DLNA/UPnP.

Mikael

I spoke too soon! Turned on today, pressed STOP to stop the scanning of the HDD. Stuck a USB stick in to listen to a couple of new albums i got. I later transferred them to the correct locations on file folder structure I have. After safe removal of the USB stick i noticed one of the new albums was displaying two of the tracks in the recently added music bit on the home screen. I restarted the unit so that it would begin scanning the HDD but.... reboot loop.

It took a while to get to the home screen where no info on the HDD or its content came up, including the recently added stuff! Managed to make it shut down and that's where i left it!

This is going to be annoying as it looks like i will have to do a rescan after all which will take all night! seeing as its well over 100GB of music to scan through!

I hope this doesn't happen again! any ideas on why it did it based on the sequence of events outlined above?

Update: I "cleared history"/ "scanned for errors" and "rescanned storage". I had to reboot to start it going. After about 30 minutes i heard the groan of the HDD restarting (seeing as i was watching something on TV) I went back to it to find it had rebooted and got itself into another loop. I managed to get to the settings page (system seems stable once past the home screen! and did the same - cleared history, scanned for errors and rescanned storage.

Still rebooting! So i have now plugged it into a computer done a check disk (basic) then deleted the theater and part file and its now rescanning!

Why is it so difficult!! it really shouldn't be! It seems to be an issue with getting the data off the HDD as like i said the recently added data is blank and never fully loads the home screen before restarting!

I got this box for my birthday last February! Over a year on and its still not stable!!

Update2: just rebooted again after the computer delete method! It does seem to be scanning again now even though it rebooted?

If it fails when i get up in the morning then I'll be going back to 5440! if the constant reboots for 8 hours doesn't ruin the HDD!!

Update3: Turned the TV on this morning to find the home screen with No recently added info, completely frozen, unable to do anything. Had to pull the power! Using the computer i did another checkdisc then deleted the 2MB database file! this for me is normally 30MB. On reboot same problem, had to pull the power again. Ive now reinstalled 5440 and currently doing a HDD scan (fingers crossed i can get everything back to how it was!)

Question - I have the HDD on spin down at 30 minutes, I'm sure i have always had this set to this? would this setting have any impact on the scanning process if it takes the good part of the day to build the database?

Update 4: reinstalled 5440 and the unit scanned and constructed a new database with no problems.

I went back to 5440, because I was not able to make a slideshow automaticly.I did not use the safe method, because I don't want to do all presets new. I will wait for a final release, whenever it may come. Bestes

Just tried to watch some videos on YouTube for the first time with this firmware and copped a whole lot of frustrating Cannot Play Media File messages that seemed to go on and on for the majority of the videos.
