I am considering upgrading from my original playon to the Veolo device.

However, all my movies are archived in *.iso format.

Can the Veolo play content encapsulated in ISO?

This affects both DVD ad Bluray content.

unfortunately the VEOLO doesn't support .iso at this moment. Our developers are still looking into this but we cannot say when/if this will be available. You can also check our official spec list here:

Thanks for clarifying, I did see the spec list, but thought it prudent to ask anyway. I just assumed that since your other players support ISO format the Veolo would too.

This is a terrible shame!, I hope your devs address this soon as it looks like i am sticking with my original playonHD for a while longer yet!

Hi, sorry for the sad news but it's not actually only our Veolo that have the lack of support regarding ISO formats, it's the entire android base platform devices (pure android) which are using ARM processors.

Yes!, this is what I expected, I have looked at other android based devices and found the same quirk.

Until then I am very happy with my PlayonHD and very grateful that your team continues to release upgraded firmware for it. it really sets your brand apart having such good support.

On my android phone, i use mx player is alternative videoplayer. Its supposed to support dvd playback. But i don't know about iso.

You can try this unofficial vlc player. Since vlc normally supports iso playback.

Ok just tested booth programs on my android phone. The booth loaded and played the iso fine. The only problem there is. Is that you can't select from the menu and there's no chapters. But i started the movie by moving the search slider. In vlc i could choose the audio track.

And on my tegra 2 phone i had to use software decoding, but it played fine. I opened the iso from file browser called root explorer, by long pressing. After i choosed open with, then under the general tab i choose open as video.

ISO files can be played perfectly on my Veolo using ES Filebrowser as well!

Es File Explorer can open .iso files but you will not be able to navigate in the menu. Some DVD's however start after a certain amount of time i.e. 2min..
DVD .iso's without menu should directly start playing the movie.

Another way of getting iso's to work is for example by using sshdroid or any command line enabled tool and then mount the .iso file via a simple mount command.

These are all merely workarounds and not really 'good' solutions. However thanks for the input - if you have any questions please let us know.
